I've seen a few replies my comments asking how I get 2 people playing SoT with just one copy of the game, well in this case access via Game Pass. I thought this was common knowledge, in case it isn't, here it is.
disclaimer: I'm no expert, I don't know if details of how it works completely, it's just how I understand it.
This takes advantage of the way Microsoft allows you to share your games with family members on your primary device*. This basically means the primary account can pay for digital games and services (like Xbox Live and Game Pass) and accounts setup as family members on your primary device can use them on their own Gamertags without having to pay for them again or even the Primary account needing to be logged on.
*Primary device is in situations where you may have multiple Xbox One consoles associated to your Gamertag. On your Microsoft account you designate one Xbox device as your primary device. This is then the device which family accounts can share games and services.
So to start, you need
- Digital copy of the SoT/Game Pass subscription, associated with the primary account on your primary Xbox
- Accounts who want to play the game to be setup on the Primary device as a family member.
Once its setup like that it's fairly simple.
On Xbox:
- Primary Gamertag Account logged off (this is important, even if it is logged on but not used it will not work)
- Family account Gamertag logged on and playing SoT
On PC:
- Primary Gamertag Account logged on to the Store and Xbox App.
- Play SoT
Doing this I've been able to play SoT on my account on PC and a family member play SoT on the Xbox at the same time, with just one xbox live subscription and one Game Pass subscription.
Note: I think you can play on 2 Xboxes with one digital copy of SoT, if someone wants to test it. I dont know if it will only work with a digital copy of SoT or if Game Pass will work too.
It's much the same as before. Family member play the game on the primary device with the primary account logged off. The primary account then logs on to another Xbox with their Gamertag as a guest. This allows them to access the games they own. From this other Xbox they too can play SoT.
