Ever since I had started to play this game, I have always wondered, what if SoT had some PvP game mode? I would really want to see something like this to come into the game. My idea of some PvP mode would be a group of pirates are trying to hold an island, like Marauder's Arch, from another group of attacking pirates. And, obviously, standard naval combat or something like that.

You mean like an island with maybe a skull above it, that you try to hold as you do skeleton waves. In the meanwhile other crews can attack you in naval combat or fight you on the island for control of the island. If you manage to finish the last wave, it'll reward you with a key to a big treasure that you then have to safely bring back to an outpost for your reward.
Sounds like an amazing PvP idea, oh wait that's already in the game :)

A item, that when been held (or on a boat), drops x amount of gold a minute would be a idea.
And a "mini skull" over the boat that carries it.Hb a skull that when on your boat gives you 1000 gold for every boat sunk but makes a mini skull over your ship that you can see for a bit away

Skull could be found in a random shipwreck and you can choose when to sell it. Maybe growing brighter and brighter with each kill?
@hynieth When I think of SoT PvP, I think something like Battlefield 1's operations or something; As in like holding an island
