As of today, WoW has officially done away with PVP servers. Now you can "unflag" on any server. Blizzard caved in to the people that played on PVP servers and let them unflag on any server. Let us hope Rare does not follow in this path.

It's official. I have left WoW for SoT because they got rid of PVP servers.
I also don't really want to see it happen with Sea of Thieves. I think that would defeat the concept of the game and pointlessly split the playerbase.
I'm wondering though if the introduction of AI ships could change my perspective on this in some way. I'm eager to find out how exactly they will work in the game.

are we talking about making a PvE style flagging? Personally I don't think they ever will becuase the core ethics of this game was founded on not wanting to split the player base.
-No vertical progression
-No optional cross platform
-No special weapons
-No pve/pvp serversI wouldn't worry about it Rare is good people they listen and most of us want the same thing they do. A large sandbox game where you are who you want to be.
Well, I am happy for you that you've decided to play Sea of Thieves.
That being said, I've been a World of Warcraft player since it's release and I've seen the Servers change throughout the years.
I don't believe that they've canned PvP servers. Actually, they've made it more compelling to World PVP. You can basically be in a PVP Server all the time, as long as you've flagged yourself in either Orgrimmar or Stormwind.
Why do you think PVP servers are dead?
Somebody didn't read up on how the servers will work. There is no longer pve or pvp servers. There are simply servers. where if your flag is on, you are sharded with others whose flag is on. To disable the flag, you must travel to a capital city afaik to turn it on or off. So, people that want world pvp will be flaggedand moved to the shard for it. The only people that this would realistically effect...... are lowbie gankers? So what's the problem?
@vapor1080 I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the forums but there is an overabundance of duplicate threads almost daily for the same issue. I just don't like how a lot go about it with such hostility and no need for negativity we can all have discussions but it tends to turn into name calling and the mods have to step in and lock the threads. I just want more positive posts and great stories, This game is a story maker.

Agreed, and not every story has to be about PVP, matter of fact I'm fairly confident Rare doesn't want that to be the case. Also, I'm not sure that what happens in wow is terribly pertinent when it comes to SoT.

I've completed 99 forts now. I have scuttled probably less than 5 times total. I don't care if anyone else does. It's just not a big deal. The more PVP the better.
As for WoW. Now you have to opt in for PVP. You have to select PVP in Stormwind before heading out in to the world. WoW is going to lose a fair amount of people over this decision. Oh well....
@trickrtreat01 It is a big deal to you because you argue for it any time it comes up. If its happening as little as you keep saying, then there wouldnt be much loss to the amount of pvp in the game if it were fixed and working correctly, so your stance makes little sense.
Nothing in WoW has any relevance to SoT.

My being here doesn't make anything happening in WoW relevant on the SoT forums tho... This category specifically states its about discussion about Sea of Thieves, not WoW, lol.
Honestly, it seems like this was just an excuse for you to make another thread about how you don't want anyone in SoT to be able to opt out of PVP and there are plenty of threads already open on that subject you could repeat yourself on instead of cluttering up the forum with some nonsense about WOW.
