Just one other sword, Rare!!!!

  • I love the cutlass don’t get me wrong and yet there is another sword I would love to wield while fighting throughout the seas of thieves...

    The Rapier

Fast attacks, long reach, different hilts (german, italian, spanish, etc), different colors, and of course same damage as the cutlass.

I would say the sword doesn’t need a drawback. However, if you wanted to add a drawback, make the sword weaker against bosses (skull captains etc) or make it a touch weaker than the cutlass.

To attain this sword we could do some sort of treasure hunt/monster fighting quest like this:

A long gone and forgotten pirate legend slew this mystical beast and left the Rapier imbedded in the beast and with one of your updates Rare, this beast comes back to life and crews all around must come together or they can do it alone (doubtful this is one huge beast), to track this beast down and send it back to davy jones locker!! Attaining the legendary Rapier after the quest is completed.

The beast......is the mystical Leviathan. Huge underwater beast, looks like a dragon, and I believe it even jumps out of the water and such. Will be a challenge.

Come on Rare, you can do this!!!

Let me know what you think fellow pirates and lets try to get rare to make this happen!!

  • Personally I’d rather something a bit heavier, Greatsword perhaps?

  • @themightysiege

I definitely like the greatsword as well, I just feel the rapier is more pirate like. Swinging a greatsword in the second deck of a ship is possible but those tight quarters may cause you to lose the fight. Perhaps as a third option or the player has a choice between a greatsword and a rapier and will only be able to have one or the other, not both.

  • why not,but i could never figure out the difference between a german and a spanish hilt ;) ,i have no clue what they look like

  • @weedstar-deluxe

So the italian and spanish rapiers usually have a cup hilt. Fancy and very nice looking. Think captain hook, some 3 musketeer movies, etc. Then the german hilt is nice too but is more like a wired cup hilt without the cup, hard to explain, also in the 3 musketeer movies. There is a digram of the differences online, not sure if i can post links? Glad you liked the idea!

  • i know what cups u mean, but dosent knew from which countries they are:)

    sure u can post links

  • What's a "Great Sword"? I'd do it like Sid Meiers and have 3 types. Cutlass (Heavy+ 2 damage), Rapier (light +2 speed), Long sword ( All Around +1 damage +1 speed). I love the idea of facing different pirates with different styles!

  • Here is a nice diagram of all the hilts.

Not sure which pirate carried a greatsword to be honest haha. The only pirate I know that carried something close to a greatsword was Captain Barbossa. He carried a broadsword.

Definitely, seeing other pirates master their swords, Will definitely emphasize dueling more than shooting, which is great.
