I became a Pirate Legend a few weeks back and I've been around since release so I know a few things that might help ye scallywags get to your goal.
-
First it's advised you play the game in gamechat, it will help you communicate with other Captains in the open sea of you wish to be friendly.
-
Second be very cautious of other pirates on the sea, sadly this community is plagued with filthy sea dogs who just want navel combat and don't care for your loot.
-
Third play with friends, if you don't have any join and open crew. This will help in the long run because sailing alone is nerve racking at the best of times.
Those are some general tips for people who are just starting, let's get into gameplay.
Well the game has came a long way since release and a wide amount of new mechanics and activities can keep you distracted whilst you sail around the sea. When taking on voyages, don't be afraid to cancel one if you're not feeling like it's a good one, there are plenty voyages to go around, especially if you have a large crew.
Gold Hoarders are is a very interesting faction. The voyages comprises of Six obtainable chests as you get higher in reputation, more than any other faction. (Some might say I'm wrong because of the Merchant Alliance but in reality, there are four of each animal and each kind sells for the same loot across the board, a Gold Chicken can fetch the same price as a gold pig but a Captain can never sell for more than a Chest of Sorrows, hope you understand what I mean) Anyway, so it will take a little more effort to get this factions reputation up in my opinion. At the start I would suggest taking on smaller islands until you have the confidence to tackle a large one.
Order of Souls, the tips I can give you are simple ones, use the Cutlass for Plant Skeletons and keep them out of the water, throw buckets of water onto the Gold Skeletons and use your firearms, hold your lantern high to light up the Shadow Skeletons of a night before giving them a good beating and just bash the normal Skeletons in any way you like.
Merchant Alliance can be a great currency earning faction if you work at it, the best advice I can give you is learn the animals homes, remember which Island has what and plan your voyage carefully and above all protect your animal once they're on your ship, stay away from combat at all costs and avoid know cannon parts on islands.
These are some tips and tricks to help you on your way sailors, best of luck on the seas. Fair winds and high tides mates.
