Clouds over Skeleton ships... just... no...

  • This is probably a mistake to have that. If I'm fairly certain there would be just one ship that spawns and drops lots of loot. If it's like the system we have where thwo ships spawn, well... that would be chaotic. And with the cloud and not everyone liking the alliance system, it... well... brings lots of trouble with it.

If I had a say, let us find them just by the blue and green lights they will give out, and not by a cloud. If the ships dont have a cloud, it gives us a better feeling of surprise that we found a skeleton ship.

  • I feel you there with regards to chaos and more player backstabbing. Personally i have to disagree with you, not because i think your wrong ....but rather your right. What's life without a little chaos. This gives players more reason to interact in different ways and not just go about their way grinding quests/athena. And if you are questing, this is another distraction to keep others out of your business :). #TwoPennies

  • More to the point i think both their idea and your idea should be implemented. One would be the cloud and kind of a "fort" at sea and the other an emergent Meg/kraken type deal with less loot and more surprise factor. Ok that is all.

  • @cheatingpirate I agree. Unlike active forts, a Skeleton Ship on the seas stands out pretty clearly from other ships - it's already got a "Something over here!" sign on it. Particularly, if it's not waves of ships, but just one. There's no need to call everyone on the server to the spot. Make it like a sunken ship... if you find it... good on ya. If not, then you'll find one eventually.

  • We dont know how difficult a single skellie ship could be.
Maybe a crack team of legends on a galleon could still need an alliance, or two noobs in a sloop and a powder keg is all that's needed.
Maybe the skellies will learn about buckets and bailing water, or learn how to remove a chest of sorrow.

Rare probably has a good reason for the skull cloud, we will have to see how it plays.

  • It's just going to turn into another mechanism for people to server hop and farm. What a disappointment.

  • I agree. I don't think players really need a "bat signal" to inform them about skull fleet battles. I think a more subtle alert system ought to be employed here.

My idea? Take the banners from the outposts and put them on the respective islands near where the ships spawn (Smuggler's Bay, Shark Bait Cove, Marauder's Arch), each one appearing during the timeframe which that respective fleet is active, and then disappearing when that timeframe is finished (or possibly defeated?)

  • Hopefully they move the skeleton ships out of the corners.... Idk why they put them up there but it be better for then to be in the world. Not tucked away in the corners of the map.

  • @treefittymonsta It was the same with the event for the Megalodon - stuck in the SE corner of the map - that was just to give a particular place to go for the event. The Skeleton Ships will not be stuck in the corners once they become a regular part of the game.

Yah. If we are comparing the cursed sails to the hungering deep. The cursed sails wins hands down. The hungering deep was awful.

I just wish they would stop tucking this new content in the corners of the map. There is a big ocean right in the center of the map that would be perfect for spawning the skeleton ships.

  • I think the cloud will be for Skeleton Ship Navy battles.
I don't think individual Skeleton Ships will have clouds over them.

  • Would be a shame if they just did the whole fort thing but just on a ship.

Please don't follow the RARE recipe and just make another way to make us do the same thing we have already done.

Please don't just redo the fort battle but just with a ship.....it's the same thing.

Waves of Skellies with a skull cloud floating above it.... now on a ship...yawn.

See...I just said the same thing a couple of different ways....and it was soooo unnecessary. And I sounded stupid.

Power may come from the crew that stays the longest and explores the most on a server.
Cursed cannonballs can only be discovered by exploring the islands. Imagine a crack pirate galleon crew with four or five of these, any type, with about ten powder kegs, and a few hundred cannonballs.
Better hope they are looking for an alliance.

Streamers are going to eat us casuals alive with these 'rare' items.

  • @treefittymonsta It’s only for the period of the introductory campaign. If you don’t want them to do the introductory campaigns and just plop the DLC content into the world, then you’re out of luck. They said very early on that this would be their approach to the DLC.

  • Skelleton ship will no longer appear in predicatable time frames and locations after the event is over. They want them to spawn at random in the world like the megalodon/kraken, because of this the only reasonable way for players to know that waves of skelleton ships are active is through a global note such as a "skull cloud". In any case there can be alternative methods to showing where it is, but in any case there still needs to be readability from players, especially if players seek to avoid running into them. There is nothing wrong with the server knowing where the skelletons are, especially because we have been knowing for 3 weeks their exact location and time of spawn, but now apperantly its a problem because a cloud flies over them?

This thread is a old sneaky "someone stole my exclusive fort loot, please remove the cloud" complaint, only its trying to remove the thing before its in the game. No sir, you are going to have to deal with the whole server knowing about the skelleton crews. Besides, server hoppers are going to have a hard time due to the sheer amount of resources required to face the skelleton crews, something that wasn't a concern fighting skull forts. Who knew that just making an event challenging would remedy the issues of players fiding easy ways to farm it...

I'd even would tolarete rare giving a screen message pop up letting everyone know where and when the selleton ships randomly spawned, just out of spite from this suggestion.
