We did a fort tonight and the treasure room was open and empty, in an active fort... We killed all skeletons and the captain, got the key... Still open and empty! We moved away and comeback to reset it and... still no loot! We tried another camp (inactive) to try the key but all other camps had there treasure room open and empty. Could you make the forts work when you create new success on it?....

@m3talr3d That was not a bug. You guys got hosed. So that is a tactic that some players are using. The forts are tied to the captain not the door opening. So as long as the captain dies, the fort is considered completed and the next one will start in the cycle. Basically they hold onto the key after doing a fort then wait for the next fort to spawn and use the key there. The door opening doesn't cancel the fort since again the fort is tied to the captain not the door. You might ask yourself why do that? Well for 2 reasons.

Its actually really safe if you can get everything loaded up before anyone shows up. So you see someone coming, you just leave with the loot and since the fort is still active they have no idea that the loot is gone and they don't bother chasing you. You get away with the loot hassle free.

To be jerks. It screws the rotation up for a single fort completely. Basically there is an extra key floating around. So you either just complete it and just move on, or you wait for it to despawn and go to the next one.
Now if you can find the original fort that started it all before the loot despawns, well then you can just use the key there. However, since all the forts are now active that will be a little tedious.
