As I began my journey with a reliable mate, they had to depart to another realm and leaving me on me own. But not for long, another crewmate joined me. Off we went, we joined an alliance Our alliance was six ships strong. All sloops. Many a captain received a voyage for Athena. So off we went.
Each sloop sailed off to destinations unknown, well known to those in the alliance that is. All was going well until my crewmate wanted to steal from an Alliance member. I said, "That's not right, we can all get a chest and swap." My mate acquiesced, or so I thought. He was on an island help another crew solve a riddle and I kept hearing the strangest conversations. It wasn't tracking. After stopping to pickup cargo I then headed off to the final destination that would reveal the location of the fabled Legendary Chest.
My mate askes me to then meet him at one of the near by outposts. I get there and there's a gun battle going on. It was between my crewmate and the other crew. The other crew, thankfully didn't kill me as I turned items in, thus gaining wealth for the alliance. After all, that's what they are for. The spirit of "The Code."
After turning what I could, the other sloop crew repeatedly killed my errant crewmate. I contacted a member of the other sloop and let them know I was taking their ship and going to get my chest. Their reply, "OK."
So off I sailed, towards my final destination. Crooked Masts. In a sloop not my own. I get to the island, and hear battle again. I scramble to find the chest. Finally, I have it dug up! But my despicable mate had stolen the sloop I barrowed to finish the voyage and obtain wealth untold. A shiver runs down my spine - Someone has left the alliance. My own vessel is not on the map. I quickly set sail, with a member of the other sloop, and we both get the idea. He, my enemy turned friend, takes the chest in his mighty hands it would change ownership to him. So he lifts it high with a mighty roar and puts it down. My own chest has been stolen. From me. Right under me very nose! But vengeance is sweet, my own crewmate wanted to take it all from them. So I took it from him. As we sailed closer to the nearest outpost, I changed allegiances. My alliance member had an opening for a crewmate, so I joined his crew. Sadly, my previously errant crew mate didn't get to turn in MY chest. Nor did he get credit for it. I stole it from him!
And as I laugh, I wonder. Can a turned in stolen Athena's chest become mine? And will I grow in reputation for turning in my own stolen Athena's chest?
And that lads and lasses gets an answer - Yes! You can steel your own chest and turn it in. And get credit for it. You will also get credit, a bit shady mind you, for joining another crew. So long as it is touched by someone of the other crew and not you. Then, and only then will you join the new crew you shall grow as a Legendary Thief. I am Legendary Thief Grade I, for stealing my own chest.
And that lads and lasses is a tale to pass about and laugh.
