Seems I can't pursue or attempt to fight another ship w/o a Meg or ghost ship spawning, it's becoming quite tedious. It's not an 100% occurrence but boy does it sure feel like ~60%
Skeleton Ship/ Megalodon spawn rate?
@ghostpaw Fair enough I suppose, but the rate at which they spawn is annoying, especially when you get the double whammy or the trifecta w/ the kraken. It's hard enough as it is to find someone who isn't just going to sail away into the red sea w/o having ghost ships and megs helping them out lol
Just some tips That I’ve learned when solo slopping.
MEGS....Swing by islands frequently. What I mean is if you get close enough the sharks will go away, or not spawn if you are so close to the islands.
KRAKEN...If there’s no skull fort or skelly fleet cloud up, be careful. That’s essentially when the Kraken spawns. I imagine this is the way that Rare worked around stressing the servers out when the fleets first came out and they had to disable the kraken for awhile.
SKELLY SHIPS...Use your curse cannonballs on them right away to disable them shooting you if you have some. Then unload. I frequently sink the ship before they even get a shot off if I have some key cursed cannonballs. If not aim high to take out their canons, then shot low. Also, not all skelly ships are hostile. I’d say maybe 25% of the ones I come across are just skellys that are sailing around enjoying the scenery.
I hope this helps. If you get to frustrated remember you can always quit out and jump servers. You are solo after all. I would do it frequently if I got krakened when they were real tough.
@autisticfascist Megs are really not that much of an issue, they can be avoided pretty easily.
I am a little on the fence regarding the Kraken and Skeleton Ships, but siding with the frequency being toned down just slightly - especially if slooping or solo. The reason for me being on the fence is while many times neither is much of an issue, there are sessions where it is a little relenting. Sometime last week I was solo slooping and in that 2-3 hour sessions I was beset by 2 Kraken, at least 4 Skeleton Ships (most seemed to keep hanging out in the same area where I was trying to extract my treasure), and a few Megs (who for the most part were not an issue, easily lost near islands). It was more the timing of their appearance that bothered me, it was usually after I finished a voyage and was setting sale to an Outpost or just before I reached one to turn in.
