Theory about Wild Rose (SPOILER WARNING)

  • I just completed Wild Rose, and I have come up with a theory about what exactly happened.

Spoiler warning: The jealous skeleton lord wanted George for herself, and trapped both his, and Rose's spirits in their pendants. We never see George's skeleton, but Rose's can be found. For me, It was on Mermaid's Hideaway. Once you bring their pendants back, Olive does a witch like ritual to break the curse. Last we see of them is them embracing each other and fading away in a white, heavenly light. I still felt sad and went back to where I found Rose. Then I found something that made me make the theory.

Theory: Rose and George are Alive again.

Theory Defended: In her last notes, when she was struck by Rooke from behind, she felt her spiritual body being trapped in her pendant. She knew what death is like (probably went to the ferry too many times), and this did not feel like death. Once we bring the pendants back, again, they disappear in a heavenly light and they disappear, which may imply they went to Heaven or something. But I took that back when I went back to where Rose's remains were... they were not there. When other characters died, their skeletons remained, like the Forsaken Shores crew. But that was a natural death, not held by a curse. Rose and George were cursed, and that curse was broken. Now her skeleton is no longer there.

So, I believe that George and Rose are alive and found each other again. Hopefully, we will see them along the Seas somewhere. Or they left the seas to start a family? Or they just went to Heaven and the pigs ate the bones since there were no more bananas (Sarcasm). I still hold my theory that they are alive again, and happy together.

  • Spoiler alert.. it's safe to say they definitely aren't lol.

I don't think they opted for the ferry afterwards. We basically freed their souls to move on.

  • @tre-oni Yes, we freed their souls, but that would mean they are dead. Gone gone. And seeing how those who truly die leave a body behind (like those Snitcher Jim killed), but Rose doesn't leave a body... well, she does, but the body suddenly is gone after her soul is freed. that doesn't say they are dead to me. So me, it seems like their souls returned to their bodies, after the curse was broken.

  • @cheatingpirate her body moves depending on your mission

  • @cheatingpirate said in Theory about Wild Rose (SPOILER WARNING):

The body is gone because that's a case of mechanics vs realism lol

The body is pretty much a key item, and moves depending on where your Tale takes you. No real way to just leave it somewhere outside of the Tale and make it work is there?

Thats like saying the Ferryman is alive because a body isn't left behind, and remains dont linger in chapter 7.

Rose definitely left a body. George did too I'm sure.

  • @tre-oni Still Rose's line saying "I know what death is like, and this is not like death."

(As for the skeleton moving, I know it moves due to quest mechanics. But, there is some more evidence to support the theory.)

  • @cheatingpirate i think the bottom line is they are together. i look at it as they are taking a vacation in the land of the damned. maybe they will come back someday. it seems like its each pirates prerogative if they wana come, go, wait. so i see nothing wrong with your theory. i think the oos girl says something about them not wanting to come back right now at the end. so maybe later or at the very least is implying they have a choice to make.

  • @cheatingpirate If I remember right, Madame Olive says at the very end something along the lines of "I don't think they'll be coming back anytime soon." I took that to mean that they will come back someday.

  • @cheatingpirate
Sssstt, Mr CheatingPirate , never show spoilers on the Forum, it may kill ongoing and future stories… ;-)

Spoiler Alert for tale number 7:

The ferryman mentioned in his questbook that we freed Rose's and Georges soul...so they ARE dead...maybe they come back as ghosts someday

  • @cheatingpirate they are dead dead.
The most they could be were undead, with the skeleton curse. Because you saw the decomposition of Rose's Body. She could never return to his body, because she has none.

    Spoiler:
The next tall tale you work for the ferryman, and in his book you can read their souls are finally free and in the afterlife.

The reason why you cannot find their body when you complete the mission is the same mechanics as journals, it only appear in the world when you have the tale active. And their bodies change location from tale to tale.

  • @cheatingpirate well lets hope their alive some where

  • @nunoazuldimeter Hmmm with the Morning Star crew, they were on the Ferry after their souls were freed. And it was the same curse that Rooke used. She got it from Graymorrow.

  • @cheatingpirate and they couldn't comeback.
It's said in the lore, if a soul takes too much time lost on the world or even in the ferry/sea of the damned, they cannot return to life.
That is what happens with people who suffer from Skeleton curse as Flameheart.

Maybe the mysterious box of the Roar contains a secret that can solve that problem.

  • @nunoazuldimeter With the Morningstar crew, that was quite a while. for Rose and George, it was only a few days. Anyone know the limit the soul has to board the ferry?

Hmmm... maybe that is why Sticher Jim tried getting it to the gold hoarder?

  • @cheatingpirate Indeed, even the Morning(mourning?)star's crew say they will likely return to the land of the living. Dinger even says he'll tell you details of his experiences over ALOT of drinks.

But yeah, as for the love birds, they chose to pass on.
