So, with the new shores of gold, you can only get to the new lands with the shroudbreaker, which is a bit disappointing. Why? Because Sea of Thieves has always been about adventure, exploration, and plundering. I think it would fit with the adventurous aspect of the game if it were possible to at least get close the shores of gold while not doing the Tall Tales quest. It would lead to some interesting stories to tell, and adventures to be made. It would make the game feel a bit more realistic as well. I think it would be interesting to see that implemented into the game.
Shores Of Gold Access
Yeah the ENTIRE 8 chapters before the final one is about putting together the Shroudbreaker to get to the Shores of Gold.... If you can just sail there whenever you like you've removed the point of basically the entire Tall Tales storyline and update.
I assume once you have all 9 Tall Tales chapters unlocked you can just go to Morrow's Peak and get the Shroudbreaker and sail to the Shores of Gold whenever you like anyway.

@RufousTeacher29 To my knowledge it should be possible to reach that island by having enough planks as a substitute for the missing Shroudbreaker (maybe i missed something in the patch notes), but there is no real point in going there unless you want to do the specific tale which gives the Shroudbreaker in the first place. Besides the animals everything on that island is tied to the tale. I don't see any interesting story that is more likely to happen there than any other island and that isn't about the tale.

An there is ways you can get over there without shroudbreakerI my self look at the map, an thought, I can easily sail over there without the shroudbreaker, but was meet by invisebel wall.
But here is the two ways I know you can get over there.
- you take mermaid, an instead of getting to your ship, sometime it will send you to a random island. We were lucky ones that my friend ended up over there
- You get transported over there on an others ship, if you shuttle your ship, it will end up over at the shores of gold, an you will have no means of leaving without you ship taking dmg.
But it's possible to do everything over at the shores of gold, without having started the tall tale.

@crimsonraziel But as I said, If I have the shroudbreaker on my ship, I can take as many players over to the shores of gold.
If they sink there ship, the only place there ship can/will spawn is over there.Was pretty funny, cause we had taken 1 player over there an doing all the stuff.
He was in a open crew, an somebody join in on him, an sunk his ship, only to spawn over at the shores of gold, an then sunk our ship, but it spawned over there as did he ship when he was trying to leave.we tried to explain what had happen, but ended up just leaving him there
@crimsonraziel I wondered that too... seems like you can easily patch and bail your way there. I guess they stopped that from happening.
@tedakin @Crimsonraziel no even with a billion planks you will not get there, that part of the shroud is coded differently and wil sink and teleport you really quick.
I have tested it.
Even if you jump off your ship in the shroud area (before being in reach pf the island) you will teleport back to your ship, usually before even hitting the water
@callmebackdraft I believe you guys. But in the past I once did patch my way there without the Shroudbreaker. Good that they fixed it.
