Raw, medium, well done meat type/Legendary fish

  • Title says everything, not just color based but name based as well. Hunters call is already difficult, which don't get me wrong- I love the grind. Just a simple improvement I think is cool, and more clear for new Hunters call grinders.

    Raw: Hardly valuable.
    Eg. Ruby splashtail, 20-30 gold
    Medium: Slightly better value.
    Eg. Ruby splashtail, 30-50 gold.
    Well done: Best possible valuable.
    Eg. Ruby splashtail, 70-100 gold.
    Burnt: Most least valuable.
    Eg. Ruby splashtail, 5-15 gold.

    With respective trophy varients obviously...

Raw Ruby splashtail trophy: 50-100 gold.

    Medium Ruby splashtail trophy:100-150 gold.

Well done Ruby splashtail trophy:200-250 gold.

Burnt Ruby splashtail trophy: 35-75 gold.

Obviously this would be applied to all types of the fish in the game, as well as Kraken and Megalodon meat. Obviously those wouldn't be the values of them, but you get the idea.

    LEGENDARY FISH

Legendary stormfish: Only catchable by Legends in a storm.

Legendary battlegill. Obtainable at forts by Legends.

    Etc.

  • Hard nope about the name reflecting how fully it's cooking. Identifying the state of foods is an ability that improves with practice and is thus a skill. Having the name change based on it's state completely removes this skill. This can only have bad effects on the game.

If a player is new to cooking and can't reliably identify the state of their food while it's cooking, then what they need is practice doing. They don't need the game to do it for them. No one deserves the rewards unless they are capable enough to complete the task.

  • @ambiguousmonk Skill could still be improvised though by making the cooking time between food temperatures have a very short distinct difference. Example would be, 30 seconds for medium, 32 seconds for well done. There is only a two second interval for which you could take the food off the stove. Thus resulting in still being able to possess skill in cooking.

  • @cyberbulliest That still only devolves cooking into a game of timing. And not only that, but one where you have to literally sit there and stare at it in preparation to pick it up. Not only does that take the identification skills out of the mix, but also makes the process absurdly tedious.

The cooking system is fine as it is. Skilled cooks are able to know the state of the food by a glance, and master cooks are able to tell by sound, and god tier cooks are those able to do both those things while also still managing the rest of the ship. Ultimately, a great cook is one that can cook and fight at the same time. Nothing about this needs to change
