New Gold Hoarder Mission Type - The Gold Hoarders Lost Hoard

  • So, the idea is, The Gold Hoarders have caught wind of a treasure chest they've never heard of before. They have been tipped off to this through help from the Order of Souls. It would seem that a young Gold Hoarding apprentice had turned greedy. They had found a whole new chest type and curiosity and self importance had got the better of them.

Instead of turning these chests in, they had decided to try and unlock the chests secrets and keep them to themselves. The problem is they failed to open them... but not before leaving maps to there locations.

Because of their knowledge of The Gold Hoarders he had made his maps differently... Instead of maps of islands, he had made maps of tunnels leaving out the islands outline. He'd also used a special ink making the X's only appear where there is no natural light.

Working out which islands these tunnels belong to is hard enough without the islands outline.... but a number of new tunnel hazards makes it even harder... Trip wires, tunnel spiderwebs blurring your vision, and spike pits. Also bats have taken up residence. Everyone knows how jumpy bats can make you when they fly into your face in a darkened, trip riddled tunnel.

This mission type although available to everyone is only recommended to the seasoned player. A very good knowledge of islands, caves and tunnels is a must to even start this one.

  • @guybrush3pwood2 sounds interesting. In my opinion the gold hoarders could use some new quest typs. And I totally agree with having quests of different difficulty for players with different level of experience.

The quest typ you proposed sounds quite challenging. I am not sure if I could manage to find those chests :D. But if the reward/time ratio fits, why not giving it a try? I think it would be good to combine those time consuming quests with some nice commendations.
At least for all quests the reward/time ratio must be in balance. Otherwise people won't do those quests.

I like the idea of X's that appear only in specific situations or positions. It's somehow a combination of the riddles (where the next lines only appear if you reach a specific spot) and the standard treasure map. Maybe we can work this part out to increase the variety of quests in general. For instance different treasure maps:
X's only appear in the absence of natural light like tunnels (your suggestion)
    X's only appear at night
    X's only appear when you're drunk :-D

I already thought about new quests for the order of souls, cause I think they are lacking variety of quests. I'll work this out and may start a new thread.

    Cheers
    Mr. B.

  • @mr-bavinsky cool. Yeah, I'd like to see the Gold hoarders have more variety and I think the many tunnels in the game are underused. There are area's that actually look like bandit hideouts but the only time anything is buried there is on a riddle quest and people really dislike them.
