Burning Blade Scuttle Suggestion

  • Encountered this a few times recently. Players have been scuttling and doing what they can to sell the sword when they are engaged in combat. The one today did the ram strategy into reapers scuttled the burning blade and denied the sword.

My suggestion if you are the world event of the burning blade and you scuttle it should scuttle you to a new sea. This would avoid the grief of the people selling it just to deny it when they were under contention and leave the burning blade/ritual sword to the people who actually want to fight for it.

If they get sunk they can stay on the server but a scuttle of the burning blade shouldn't allow them any chance of profit. It's not a big deal when it's less than 3 rituals on the sword some people just have to go but when it's 3 or more and they're just doing what they can to grief it should be punished by sending them to a new server since they forfeited the burning blade.

1 are you sure the scuttled and didn't just sink?...
2 since it was contested and they didn't have a ship why didn't you beat them to the sale point?

The BB does not sink quickly so you have plenty of time to get ready to fight over the wreckage.

  • It takes at least 90 seconds for the Burning Blade to despawn, which is a long time for any player to need to survive with a single life, (probably) stuck in water, limited supplies, and unable to recall their starting ship until the Burning Blade disappears.

Plus, if your own ship is in the vicinity you'd have the advantage of being able to snag either the sword with the harpoon when it comes to the surface, or the carrier if they haven't managed to outmanoeuvre you in the water.

I'm not necessarily against a Burning Blade crew being removed in any form if they lose by their hand or an attackers, but only if they mechanic applies to attackers that sink to the Burning Blade.

  • Players playing the way they want and that has becoming griefing. Sigh.

  • A lot of people do this to do the commendation for selling 20 swords with 3+ streaks on it

  • This mostly stems from the Burning Blade providing no incentive to fight. There is no reward for the Burning Blade crew to fight those attempting to sink it. Rather than restricting turn in, rewards should be on offer for the Burning Blade crew for sinking ships. For a start, this could be a unique world event that offers allegiance. Sinking Athena emissarys should offer servant of flame rep and vice versa sinking the BB should give a base amount of allegiance for guardians if flying the Athena emissary.

Incentives work more than punishment to encourage participation.

  • @a10dr4651 I really wish that sinks added to the BB's streak

  • @captain-fob4141 it does take ages to scuttle if youre anywhere near you have time to contest this. Have been on both sides of this

  • Hey, it seems to be a thing i lost 2 times rituals and if we want to get the sword back they instantly disappear from the map with the sword. Find it is totally not worth the grind and a galleon is way better than the burning blade.

Had also times a sloop is way faster even if the burning blade is in his wind.
