Like it’s shown in the title I’m wondering what weapon combos I should use. I started to use the throwing knife and pistol which has been faring pretty good so far, but then I had switched to the sword and pistol/sword and knifes and that worked as well. I’m just stuck on what to use and I need advice
Which combo should I use for hg
If you just wanna win then you play to your strengths and minimize the damage from your weaknesses.
but there is way more to sot combat than just winning. People don't quit or burn out because they lose fights, they quit and burn out because they stop having fun.
Doesn't matter if it's HG or random adventure. Playing for fun is longevity.
This is probably the worst game with pvp to take seriously. For a growing list of reasons.
Play to have fun with the styles and weapons and tools you enjoy and you still succeed, you just won't resent the experience at the end of the journey.

Thank you I will try!
I can give you an example.
I stink at tdm and I'm effective enough outside of tdm as a solo.
The blowdart gun isn't some fancy pvp weapon but it's a lot of fun for me so I use it all the time. Because I very much enjoy it I improved at it so it's not only fun for me but now it's more effective than other weapons for me.
I would very rarely board because I'm stronger on a cannon and a lot weaker on the deck of an opponent's boat, but now I can mess around with boarding more because of a different type of weapon and skill set being available in the game.
The best place you can be for yourself is outside of combat metas, then it's all just practice and doing stuff you enjoy.
If you're doing 1v1 hourglass I just recommend using what you like. In the past, the unanimous recommendation would have been blunder and snipe. Blunder for close up one kills / anti boarding, and Sniper for getting your opponent off a stationary piece of the ship like the cannons, wheel, or rigging.
Now I swap between sword, throwing knife, blunder and sniper for different reasons at different parts of the fight. I always start off with the sniper because we're fighting at distance and then it eventually gets swapped out when distance needs to be closed. Use the best tool for the job and don't be afraid to switch out when needed.
