Some day, the end of Sea of Thieves will come, development will stop and servers will shut down.
I just hope before then Rare can create an offline mode so that players can continue to play the game even if it’s just solo or implement the option for dedicated servers.
I’m not asking for single player right now, I just hope rare keeps this in mind if they decide to shut it down in the future.
It would be nice but I have little expectation for it actually happening. A lot of the stuff that the game does is server-side, and they don't have the rights to transfer any licences for the tech they rely on.
I think the best we can hope for is that they continue to support the game for many, many more years. But that's going to depend on them making the right decisions to keep players engaged and playing.
