Midnight Prowl Ship Set

  • For those that do not know (still kinda blows my mind that there are new players coming into the game that have never played or experienced arena), the Midnight Prowl was a ship in the Arena Gamemode of Sea of Thieves. It was in the gamemode from the beginning on March 20th 2019 and was removed a week or two later after the first arena "hotfix". It was removed due to it crashing and bugging out the game (was also rumoured it was removed due to it being difficult to spot at night though I personally am not so sure about this) and was replaced a while later by the Good Boy ship set.
The Midnight Prowl and Good Boy ship set acted as a sort of "overflow" ship set and would spawn if a crew had left the arena lobby late and a 6th ship was needed to replace them. This would ensure that each Arena game had 5 ships in it even if a crew had left just before the game started.
As you may or may not be aware, we (as players) receieved 6 of the technically 7 ship sets. We receieved:

    • The Azure Scout
    • The Flaming Jackal
    • The Golden Chaser
    • The Lucky Rover
    • The Regal Hound
    • The Good Boy (if the player achieved level 50 Sea Dogs)
The ship set that we did not receieve was the Midnight Prowl ship set.

I would absolutely love to see this ship set brought back into the game as in my opinion it is the coolest and most exclusive ship set in the entire game. I mean it's been in the game for 1 week and probably a handful of players were able to use it in arena. How many ship sets can you say the same about?
I suggest that perhaps on the second anniversary of Arena's closure or a date similar, some kind of game event could be introduced that ultimately allows you to earn the Midnight Prowl ship set. Perhaps it could be to do with Amaranta's arc of the story or maybe tracking down one of the old Sea Dog Representatives or Dimitri (The Big Dog) for information on Amaranta.
It would be a really nice touch from Rare and a little nod to the Arena Community to still they show care and value the Arena's place in Sea of Thieves and the impact it had on the game's lore.

Let me know of your thoughts! Below is linked images of the Midnight Prowl Ship set as shown in some early trailers of arena.

  • @ilmilou as per the Arena post by Mods: https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/145614/closing-the-arena/1

    What about The Midnight Prowl?

The Midnight Prowl isn't part of the celebration plan, but we've not forgotten about it and this won't be the last that you hear of it.

Likely this post will get closed but this is the last thing Rare said on it.

  • I would love the chance to obtain The Midnight Prowl

  • @tesiccl I see no reason why this post would be deleted? I am fully aware of what Rare said of it and am aware that it was an Easter Egg in one of the recent adventures. I'm making a suggestion as to how to re-introduce it. There's nothing wrong with that.

  • @ilmilou Any posts about arena tend to get shut down so just a warning that's all :)

  • Ship set should be given to anyone who completed arena 100%, since the good boy went to max level arena players. ;)

  • @unleet1 a triumphant sea dog only ship set? Oof yes please!

  • I hope this set makes an appearance in season 11, somehow. Even a variant would be fine.
