So Grogmanay is officially cancelled this year? Did Rare forget about it or is there a reason it wasn't implimented? Last year the event was simply log in with none of the challenges. I kind of expected that going forward but it appears it was simply scrapped.
It doesn't really matter, I guess. I really wanted another notch in the tankard but oh well.

As someone who admittedly called them out for this in previous years, I would still be very disappointed if that were the case.
They could have still done it but with less focus on getting absolutely wasted and doing challenges - sometimes repeatedly because they didn't always trigger correctly or you'd sober up before you could complete them. They could have had optional challenges based around delivering rum to outposts or setting off fireworks. Now we have traps that can be loaded with fireworks, we can set them off anywhere, that could have been a part of a challenge.
Was it noted to be officially cancelled? Or are people just assuming that it has? Rare has been pretty clear that their priority right now is game health - which it needs to be. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for Grogmanay to be postponed to a later date, once things are more ironed out.
@valor-omega The name is based off of the holiday Hogmanay which is a Scottish new year celebration and has traditionally been in the game on the same days of festivities.
I'm not Scottish so maybe someone can correct me.
@blue-sfumato I see - I actually didn't know that, so thank you! I do understand the concern for timeliness around the new year holiday, but I feel like they can still celebrate it albeit a bit late.
@burnbacon they cant even be bothered to give a single cosmetic as a log in bonus to players which is all they gave last time. I guess that reallyyyyyy would have drained all their time away from the rest of the game am I right :)

No, I wont forgive that. No one asked for 12 days of gilded voyages and boosts and additionally gold & glory. We got it anyway, arent the devs "busy" fixing the game? We got a drum over christmas, not even a recycled content-drum, no, a whole new design. Fully new fresh content. Why, when the devs are so busy with fixing game health? This argument is just BS. A login-bonus to add the fifth notch would have been less effort. Its just disappointing.
I completely agree, a fifth notch would have been very easy to implement and at a time of the year when people like to build up traditions, a comforting touch to the rough seas we find ourselves in when the game health has been struggling.
It really is a sad thing to see. For some it's there 5th notch for others it's there 1st. I already have my tankered and have a few notches in it but I've met a lot of new players this last year as I do each year and they get excited for these holiday event and special items. Players see my tankard, as well as other items and want to get there own. Most you can't get anymore but I try not to dishearten them by mentioning the tradition of the repeating events such as Grogmanay. I hope Rare can make up for these lack of holiday events in the future.
@monst3rcaptain yes they are closed from the 18th of December to the 6th of January this year and always close for multiple weeks at Christmas time. Some employees use additional days to extend it longer than the company closing hours. Very similar to many companies and employees across all professions.
I don’t think they forgot to set it up though. It became a login only thing so the cup just needed to be made and programmed and it turned on as a login bonus. Instead we got a drum as a selling bonus.
