Official crosshair option?

  • So now that Rare said crosshairs are okay will we finally get an official in-game crosshair to level the playing field with people who use 3rd party ones and to not risk getting banned for no reason?

Seems like the logical step forward and very simple to implement.

  • Hopefully they do for the principle of fairness but also, all this drama goes away if it gets implemented.

  • Man. People need crosshairs?
Well let’s hope they start allowing other things that aren’t required but wanted. Future is bold

  • Add them, but also need a button to toggle it on/off.

  • @karkona yea that's been a common issue with the game they add invasive features and no way to disable them

    1. It does seem like the most ''logical''.
Devils advocate for the reasoning that they don't have them default is for immersion purposes, HUD in SoT is very limited and that's a design choice.
Now compare to games like Call of Duty/ Battlefield where 40% of your screen is covered with mini map, ammo counter, killstreaks, kill feed, objective markers etc etc. SoT is the opposite, almost approaching Milsim levels of limited HUD.

    2. This to say why I don't think we will see official crosshairs in game. Also a lot of work to make specific crosshair for each weapon indicating bullet spread etc. unless they go for a universal dot on the screen...

    3. Monitor crosshairs are your best friend. Look up your monitors brand and download it's software in order to create custom crosshairs if need be.

    4. Steam apps like CrosshairX and other official softwares wont trigger the anti-cheat. I know peeps that have been using it since day 1 and never got their accounts grilled.

    5. Don't use crosshairs from cheating softwares suites like ESP, Aimlock.io, Carrot, Pigor.io, AthenaWare etc.
These offer crosshairs BUT these are cheats for the game which the anti-cheat may trigger.

Lastly crosshairs do give a slight advantage, let's not state the opposite and that someone is high and mighty because they don't use it.
Crosshairs can be a tad annoying when using cannons, but over time you ignore that part when shooting cannons enough where you don't realize it's there. Thing of the 'Halo' system on modern formula 1 cars. it's always in your face but over time your brain trains you to ignore it when not needed.

    @BurnBacon

    Man. People need crosshairs?
    .Future is bold

    Tools not rules. (Nerd Emoji)
I could make the same argument about safer seas, or removing quick swapping because people don't want to learn hitting an extra button to achieve something extra to unlock in their playstyle.
Adding crosshairs is the least damage of what could happen to SoT gameplay... It's down at the bottom. I hope the future is bold isn't sarcasm, crosshairs is the least of our worry's as stated. IF someone brags they don't need crosshairs, then they shouldn't complain if others want/need it.

  • Having crosshairs as a toggle or visible when aiming with certain weapons would be fine, honestly. You have people in this game putting putty and stickers on the center of their screen as a pseudo-crosshair anyway.

I do understand the concern for immersion since SoT tries to go with as minimal a HUD as possible most of the time, but having an option is always nice.
