The last season to Sea of Thieves. (RIP)

A real shame, it's really sad to see how SOT has died.
Pray for its sailor soul and thank all those ignorant people who have destroyed the game for a minute of glory on YouTube, Twitch, etc... Thanks to all the cheaters for killing it, it will surely pass to a better life in the oblivion of games that were once good. I hope you cheaters who killed it do just as well.

The Zocki. "Entre todos lo mataron y él sólo se murió". "They all killed him and he only died".

    Oh my...its dying...again?

Pray for its sailor soul and thank all those ignorant people who have destroyed the game for a minute of glory on YouTube, Twitch, etc...

Why would you pray for them?

Thanks to all the cheaters for killing it

I ask, is it really dead?

The last season to Sea of Thieves. (RIP)

Who said this, why do you say this? I'm confused :(

  • @burnbacon 2nd death reported in 2 days... it must be!

(I'll forget about the last 7 years of people reporting it's death)

  • I'm about the most consistent player that you're gonna find in the game. As far as time played per day, I play through the entire season and don't hop games, style of play, dedication to organic play. Defense pvp.

I haven't seen the kind of activity that I have been seeing this first part of season 15 since probably season 9. Maybe even going back much earlier than that to when emissaries were released.

Hg, guilds, BB, etc, none of that really created what I've been seeing.

Raids, world events, reaper chests, hunter's call stuff, just randomly sailing around. Been constant activity in my sessions, which was very much not the case for 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.

15 (so far) has been the only thing that I've seen that has lived up to the hype in a long long time, at least as far as the organic experience goes.

On top of that the season 15 content works better than content often does in its first season. Megs feel finished (even with the silly flip bugs) The season feels like the content was released in a decent state, makes a big difference.

  • @musicmee A cat may have 9 lives, SoT has 99 i guess ;-)

  • Rare must be necromancers seeing how long the game has been going after having died according to player reports!

  • Yep far from dead...

4,477 playing on Steam right now, that does not include Consoles (Xbox/PS) or PC GamePass. Probably somewhere near 20k to 30k playing right now. Imagine how many over a total week.

    Far from dead game!

  • Still in the top 30 Gamepass Games on True Achievements too lol.

Actually that list is Top 30 most played games on Xbox platform, not just Game Pass. Would rank even higher if it was just Game Pass.

  • It seems to me that the people who are bored, burned out, frustrated, etc. with anything pertaining to the game, are the ones trying to convince themselves of it. When I first started playing World of Warcraft in Burning Crusade, many said it was dying. Everquest has been around since 1999 (is probably older than OP), and they're still making new seasons for it. How many times have players said the same?

Nothing wrong with taking a break from the game or venting your frustration @TheZocki, but the moment you say it's dying, you lose all credibility from me lol.

That's because most people are utterly incapable of actually looking at things from someone else's perspective - they just project their own perspective on to everyone else:

"I'm bored with this game, I think it sucks: everyone else must also be bored and think it sucks because I do"

  • Wow this must be true! It's the 30293746273746th one in 3 years!!!

  • This game has been lacking population for a long time. But you are also talking to a censored community. Remember people using extra help to win on here> And how they denied it was that bad for so long, then they finally had to come out an admit it was a real issue?
Consider that the same mind frame people are in when you make a post against anything anyone else wants to hear. Alot of people only play with the exact same people every time they log in, they don't see any of the extra parts of the game. So it is a ignorance is bliss state of gameplay. But yes, it is has been on a down fall for a while. If there were 5 people playing, they still would be using excuses, and saying it is so alive. Just like the example I used up there. While steam isn't a huge go by for this game, the statistic system with those analytics say a whole lot, but then they will say that achievements didn't get recorded etc..

Also look how old the post are on the forums...

If you were saying this in season 7 or seasons leading into 7 I think it would be more in line with what was happening.

If you were saying the cheesing and bugs are out of control in season 11, that would make sense.

This post in season 15 doesn't much fly, imo. For a few reasons.

Console play seems to be very very healthy compared to PC play. Controller servers are still pretty darn active for the season, people appear to be at least somewhat excited for spears. A good season for organic play, it's rare to have a good organic play season but this is one of them.

They've just been going down the twitter list of feedback in the last 6 months or so, So even twitter world has a lot less sot drama as they feel more heard by devs.

This isn't to say that SoT is in some amazing state but it's def better than it usually is, pretty much all around the community and with many different types of feedback groups.

They've had some misses with messaging and game changes in the last 6+ months but overall I think it's at least in stable condition.

Two things can be true, they have a lot of work to do to improve weak spots in the game, and the game is still doing well while that happens.

I've had pretty much non-stop encounters with solid-very skilled adventure crews this entire season. Not just sweaty hoppers, adventure crews doing their thing, that's pretty rare to see. That's more interest at the experienced level.

  • The game isn’t dying, it’s just not for you.
