Hey! I have a great idea how you guys can improve better pvp experience for controller players. I play double gun and switching weapons is with triangle and it is very frustrating that whenever I'm trying to switch weapon I accidentally open a crate on the ground. You guys could make the crate interaction like "hold to open" or press square to open and hold square to pick it up. In this way every controller player Pvp experience will get better. And there is not even a setting for that. Thank you for hearing me out
Switching weapon on controller
100% Agree. My buddy with close to 600 days switched to PC and that was the first thing he noticed as an improvement (still using a controller on PC) Second was being able to grab re-grab ladder twice as fast.
Another huge improvement would be having the ability to set individual weapons to buttons or pads. It's not efficient having to double tap buttons and go through animations to get to the weapon of your choice and puts the controller player at a disadvantage

By design I say. Good counter when you cover your ship in chests and cargo stuff, preventing them from switching properly.

I dont wanna do that. I want to click and open it quickly and grab what I want during combat. :/
@cainbong
Yeah I totally don't understand that opening a barrel is with square and opening crate is with triangle that's so weird honestly.Having "hold to interact" creates an accessibility issue.
The core problem is that the binds for Secondary Interact and Weapon Switch are coupled. If they only allowed us to rebind those separately, as an option, that would solve a lot of the frustration.
But, really, we need more binding options on controller overall. Rare need to have a look at how other games (such as MMOs) deal with this.

Its definetly not by design.
If it was PC players would have the same problem, but they dont. This is one of many advantages pc players have, but this one could be easily fixed.
Please RARE separate the interaktion from the weapon switch.
@realstyli Holding triangle to open a crate would solve this problem completely since it doesn't affect "hold to interact" bc it's on square.

Having a distinction between "press" and "hold" on any button creates the same accessibility issue, regardless of the current setting, as there are people who are unable to hold a button for a long time (for various physical reasons).
@bonefiend1476 I hate to be the downer to a great idea...
1). There would need to be some tweaks to that idea to accommodate the "reduce hold to interact" setting. Maybe a tap once for primary interact, tap twice for secondary interact.
2). Decoupling weapon swap and secondary interact has been a request from controller players for YEARS. It gets requested weekly, significant up-votes and love...and nothing. It's insane to me that they haven't addressed it. It's one of the most requested things in the forum.
The problem (obviously) lies in the fact that our button options are limited on controller. Rare desperately needs to look at a way to simplify controller play.
I just posted a full QoL suggestion the other day that would free up a whole bunch of buttons for controller players and even further enable decoupling of those two inputs.
@realstyli Thats why it should be optional and there are many blind people in world therefore should we make another version of sea of thives for them then??

There are far better solutions that have been suggested over the years that don't clash with the Reduce Hold To Interact accessibility option. Simply decoupling the switch weapon and secondary interact in the binds menu, and allowing players to choose the binds for these separately, would be a far better solution, IMHO.
As for the strawman argument about "blind people", Rare cares about accessibility and that is why they have worked hard to incorporate accessibility options for the visually impaired, so they can play this game.
