Why still low levels players in crew
@monterek6 You need to find a solid crew to play with. Personally I have about 10 people I can play with. I will probably add more. I wish they would allow us all on a server together for those times when more than 4 of us are on at the same time. But by adding people that have the same "code" that I do, or at least close enough, and having so many of them, I generally have at least one person online whenever I go to play that will be around. That and my best friend happens to like the game as much as I do (if not more) so we try and work our schedules to play together.
I guess the point is, make friends, play solo until you do. Add people that you meet and try playing with them, if you end up not liking their gaming style, then try again. But I wouldn't give up. It really is a great gaming experience.
Believe it or not, some people are still just picking the game up and checking things out or just seeing whats fun.
Some people play purely for fun as well and don't seem to care if they get any levels money or progress at all, and have fun their own way. Nothing wrong with that.
Obviously you're looking for something different though so you're going to have to put in some time to find something a little more organized.
I pretty much exclusively use LFG. Even if I don't plan on really doing anything. I'll find a group looking to do as much or as little as I am as well and we'll have fun doing what we want to do.
I'll refer you to Article 6 of the Pirate Code:
Article 6
Respect New Pirates and Their Voyage Ahead
May the old legends help to forge new ones: treat new pirates with respect and share your knowledge. If you choose to sail in an open crew, maybe encourage those young sailors and show them how it's done.
Or find a like-minded crew through one of the many many community groups that have formed since launch.
Or just try getting in a puke fight now and then, it's okay to forget the grind sometimes.

Make your own looking for group don’t invite anyone with under 400 chests turned in & close to 1mil miles sailed
Lol
There are plenty of options out there to negate this entirely many listed above but got to say i happen to really like meeting fresh players or at least players that are not so high in the factions levels as yet. Mainly due to the innocence and excitability they all seem to express for the game whilst playing. Grouping with pirates set in the "grind x" mental state at all times can become taxing.
Certainly makes you forget the grind and appreciate the casual sailing even if it's not my first choice at the given time an Open crew is an Open crew afterall.
Often i find myself jumping into a solo sloop session for a few hours gather up some booty then on either the last chapter of the voyage or the sail back to an outpost i'll open up my crew for any random player to come help me cash in.
This in turn has been a welcome boon to many a fresh pirate just starting out and thus some amazing friendships and alliances have come from it so continue this ritual i shall.@monterek6
You might find the Find a Crew section helpful, there's discord groups and fleets advertised here and there is also the official discord which is a great place to find likeminded pirates.
@monterek6 Look, the hard truth is that until they fix it, you're going to be playing with people way out of your skill range who most likely DON'T share your interests. So if you're being picky then just leave crews until you find one that's right for you, or if you're being ethical then just play on a sloop.
Ah yes, the consequence of closed crews.
I now find it very difficult to find players with mic's or who know what they're doing.
There also seems to be a huge majority who don't have sound, because at times, nothing I say over my mic makes any difference.
At the weekend, three different crews I played with sailed away from a Skull Fort. Two others I was with got sunk because they were wandering around the ship.
Fun and games...for them!@kzoo-kid said in Why still low levels players in crew:
How do you get so far playing exclusively open crews? Join forums or discord to find other experienced players to form competent crews.
43-42-39, 90% open crews.
@drayman86 if you enjoy that, good on you. Otherwise it seems like you are just shooting yourself in the foot
I often join open crews to meet new people, Ive had some good times and alot of bad. I just wish people would stop joining the boat im on and dropping all the chests and skulls off the boat and then leaving, or crashing the boat and leaving... I get it.... people love to troll, but this is what makes new/unsure players stop playing
@kzoo-kid , the best part is playing late at night, and hooking up w/ Europeans & Brits.
Those guys are a RIOT, especially the Brits.
I love new players!
They see things differently sometimes (which is really cool) and its okay to crash the ship every once and a while.
I am there to give them a leg up, not to rant how they cant play or whatnot.
Experienced players can be a bigger problem. Ever Been in a crew of high lvl captains who just stand at the bow and do noting, even when rocks are straight ahead?
