Motion Blur

  • Hey Pirates.

So I have this problem in the game where it's like lagging when I turn around.
When I see other videos about SoT they're game is running perfect with the effect Motion Blur. I dont if it's their computer that is running it so smooth.

I tried to change my ingame resolution to 1280x1024 and that helped a little bit.
Do anyone know how to fix my problem? If you do please help me down below.

  • You probably have a screen tearing effect.

    What is your PC specs?
What is your screen resolution and is the game running on that resolution?

Try to turn on the FPS counter and watch if they are dropping while you turn around.
Activate Vsync, this might help if it's a screen tearing problem.

  • What kind of monitor or tv are you playing on?

  • @irhcsajr I am playing on a BenQ GL2460 monitor with 60hz

  • @dotcomrobots My specs are:

    • CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz 51 Haswell 22nm Technology
    • Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. B85M-G (SOCKET 1150)
    • Graphics: BenQ GL2460 (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (CardExpert Technology)
    • Storage: 111GB Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB (SATA (SSD)
931GB Intenso USB 3.0 Device USB Device (USB (SATA) (SSD))

My game is running on 1280x1024 with 75 hz.
I'll try to do the things you said

  • Have you tried running full screen or full screen windowed mode?

Your specs are a little dated but not that old. Your next upgrade should be a new GPU. I would try to grab a 970+ if you are able. The motion blur effect was apparent on my brothers computer and he runs a 650.

It could be your monitor. Are you using an HDMI?

That Display is a Full HD 60Hz (Maximum) 16:9 Digital Display... why on earth would you be then trying to output the game to VESA XGA 75Hz 4:3?!

THE most important thing for Digital Displays is to have a Locked Framerate Output.
This means you either want a Locked 60FPS or 30FPS Output., as such if you're getting 60+ FPS (when Unlocked) then Lock to 60FPS, if you're getting between 30-59 then Lock to 30FPS and if you're getting below 30, then Lower Resolution or Game Settings until it is above 30.

You DO NOT want inconsistent Frame Output.
Now another key point is that you DO NOT want to be using VESA Resolutions on a HD Digital Display... as they are not Consistent with the Pixel Density.
    i.e. 1280x1024 is not a Multiple of 1920x1080.

    960x540 / (1440x810) / 1920x1080 / (2880x1620) / 3840x2160
These are the resolutions you will want to be using, as these will actually scale properly.
And I'd recommend the Resolutions outside of the Brackets for a Sharp Image., as the Bracketed Resolutions will result in some excess Jaggies / Incorrect Aliasing from Texel Resolving.

Your GPU in blunt terms will simply not be capable of anything better than 540p30 mostly "Rare" Settings. You might be able to get away with 1080p30 on Cursed., but I wouldn't count on that.

  • Your screen is supposed to run at 60hz so just configure it to run on that refresh rate.
Your problem is definitely related to a configuration problem.

Once you've configured this on windows, do as I said :
    @dotcomrobots a dit dans Motion Blur :

Try to turn on the FPS counter and watch if they are dropping while you turn around.

If you still notice an FPS drop while turning despite having configured your screen to 60hz on windows then I think it might be a PC power issue. In this case just lower the whole graphics to cursed and do it again. If the FPS is steady this time while tuning then it would confirm a PC power issue.

You don't need to cap your FPS. Imo the higher is the better. If you graphic card can output more than 60fps then you should let it do so.
