With the new direction being taken for content the event hub provides something should be added to make it more visible. There should be an in game UI you can toggle on and off to see current active Dailies and Events, including that pirates progress in the event/daily. It can appear in the top right (or moveable) of the screen as most games use for active quests.
If that is not doable than something at an outpost the player can check to get this information. Like a new person at an unclaimed building, or a "magic book" at say the emporium the player can access.
There are two main reasons for this need. 1) A lot of players just play. Not everyone stays up to date via twitter, main site or even the news on the loading screen. This will help show players theres things going on and can help lead them to those other sources. 2) It keeps players in the game rather than hopping to different screens. Adding this information can help any confusion on timing people have due to time zone conversion, especially the ones that are static each day/week. A player can log in, see the gold rush it an hour away and plan accordingly.
