Hey had the idea earlier about each ship getting spawned with a single 3 slot treasure chest.
From a qol standpoint, as well as lore, it makes sense. What pirate really goes out with a chest to be able to store some small shinies. It'd be great for helping cut down on clutter as well as selling stuff, on top of messing around islands when you've got 3 skellies you've killed for 3 skulls, taking out some of the tedium.
It'd function exactly the same as a normal treasure chest except you cannot sell it to any vendor or it can be "sold" for 0/1gold and forces a respawn on the ship
Chest for none captained ships would be standard ones, uncustomisable
Chests for captained ships would be customisable via shop, commendations or (the hook) pirate emporium.
Could look at having the following available for customisation
- Material (ashen/coral/wood/gold)
- Artwork (patterns/2d pictures a la tattoos)
- Flare ( 3d model in centre like the skeleton/cursed chests)
- Trim colours
- name of the chest (not really necessary, can just be {Ship-name} chest)
The chest, to keep it simple, would be losable until either a session reset or sinking (not a skuttle n sea change). Meaning another crew cannot steal your chest if you get sunk. The items inside the chest would just be plonked on the ground/water for the winning crew to claim.
Interface for customisation would be using an unused button (hold B on an exbox, for example) when the chest is on the ground OR another small chest similar to Vanity/Equipment. Else could add it to Ship Customisation
I think this'd be somewhat simple to roll out, start of with none custom chests in the initial roll out to test functionality and then dish out customisable options once everything is sorted
