What the title says. Spent an hour at Shark Fin Camp trying any way that I could to try and reach the writing on the gate but the game refused to let me read it even when I managed to hit the thing. Anyone experienced something like this? Is the achievement now locked?

Odd... I was able to read it recently. I was on the bow of my ship though (sloop). Have you tried getting up super close to it?
Gonna try myself when I hop on again in a bit. If it doesn't work I would recommend creating a ticket using the link below so the team can get that one fixed up!
Tried bringing the sloop's nose riiiight up to it, that didn't work.
What ended up working was shooting a harpoon at the spiked bit of the gate, running up to the writing on it, jumping off and smashing my keyboard fast enough for the system to recognize that I had actually read it.

Save the keyboard! Type a message toy the good team at rare Player Support. They should get the issue to the right team.
I was just denied trying to inspect two separate things, including the writing at Shark Fin Camp. The first was the sign above the tavern on Sanctuary outpost. Both close out the dialogue before you have a chance to even hit continue. I was doing just fine before I hit those two. Will wait for a fix I guess before I do the rest, I won't make a ticket assuming that others already have and it wouldn't help much
