  • So true, there's nothing more boring than chasing a ship for an hour thinking, "If they just fought back they might win, sell their treasure, AND my treasure." Why not just turn and fight?

  • @korinra Aye, I can't usually do an hour. 30 minutes tops before I get bored and move onto other things.

I am the guy in da sloop that gets chased 30% of the time.

  • It's probably a solo sloop with 20+ chests/skulls aboard and he/she isn't about to fight a 4-man Galleon and lose their booty.

  • Or... you could stop wasting time chasing a fleeing ship cause obviously they dont want to battle.. you could be doing voyages and whatnot instead. Just my thoughts.. 😊😉

Agreed! I have no interest in fighting in this game... I have other titles to play if I'm feeling competitive.

I wasted well over an hour of a Galleon's time having them chase me... I was even jumping overboard and turning in chests when sailing by outposts!

VERY satisfying to make jerks waste their own time instead of just mine. :) Plus, that means while they were wasting time on me, they weren't out griefing some other, poor, solo player.

I actually find it more efficient to cannon to an island that e pass by. Load up on supplies and mermaid back. No need to anchor... we fill our barrels and move on. Im enjoying that until its patched...as i do think its a bit cheap..buy hey...its currently part of the game still so ill use it as long as it stays

  • A let a 3 man sloop chase me for over 2 hours once. Every now and then I would fire a shot just to make them think I had loot and I'm running to cash it in....even rammed each other and sniped at each other. We even had our ships fly into the air once too!

Twice during that whole deal, I even did sail-by resupplies, by sailing close to shore, jumping, restocking from barrels, and mermaiding back to my ship.....the kicker?

I had nothing but empty cages onboard, LOL!

40 min. "Highlight Reel" of the 2 plus hours below. XD

You have to start amusing yourself by trolling them with the in-game chat and tools.

  • @thegr8artiste Eh, I just flash police lights (soul lantern and ship lights) so it looks like a police chase.

Yeah you have to get them mad enough to turn and fight, it works most of the time.

  • @underwrldqueen Then the game would be called Sea of Adventurers.

I can only imagine... and it be the same for the pirates ye be chasin'

    Cheers!

  • @korinra AND my treasure - most of time chasing ships doesn't have anything

... and that's what makes the PvP mostly a waste of time. Nobody engages if they have anything to lose.

The only times I've been sunk, I've had nothing and was looking for a way to use my powder kegs before I log off.

As 'hardcore' as people think the PvP is in this game, it's not. Noting risked, nothing lost.

  • Yeah, so much for the social aspect. Tried to be nice, turned in all my loot, see a Galleon anchored in the distance. I decided hey, I'm fully stocked, it would be a shame for it to go to waste. I make a slow quarter mast approach fully lighted with cannons pointed skyward. I even had my tankard in hand. I start asking over and over if they want my supplies. Until they fired in me, so I jumped overboard and watch them run around a sinking ship. They didn't even notice me, one it was under I had a good chuckle and shut it off.

  • @blackbeard-lufy

Sloops be like Na bro not again

  • @korinra And they're wondering why you're engaging in such an exercise in futility as perusing them for an hour. Anybody who's paying attention knows that if the crews are not completely r******d, who wins or loses a fight comes down to nothing more than who has more cannon balls and planks. Whoever runs out first loses... or flees.

  • @blackbeard-lufy ... "Discretion is the better part of valor"

  • I am playing my game.
I am not here to play anyone else's game - I am here to play mine.
When I am solo, my goal is to do things that are a waste of time if I am with a friend.
My friend and I enjoy Merchant runs because of the golden chicken cash ins and we enjoy bounties because we seem to get multiple bosses per bounty. When we are together we never dig for Seafarer's Chests.
So when I am solo, I have to do a little Hoarder's work to keep that alliance up.
Trust me, you won't waste your time chasing me. Personally I don't have time to be wasting being chased. Nor do I have time to waste waiting for my ship to fully sink.
    So I log.
I am here to play my game. Not anyone else's. Everyone else is there to play their game. Cool. Go find someone that wants to play your game with you. Plenty of servers to go round.
If I show up at a playground with a hackysack and someone else shows up with a dodgeball - I am not required to play dodgeball. They are not required to play hackysack.
This idea that I must let you fill my ship full of holes just so you can t****g me in your mind's eye...not going to happen.

I wish I could afford to waste an hour chasing a ship, with the best hope it's carrying a golden chicken? Wutlol.

The same mentality of "just hop" goes both ways, there's an even chance you'll find PVP happy players aka normies.

The few crying and saying they get chased for hours? I want your dealers number.. I've seen few Chase me for not even 15 minutes before giving up as usual.

I'm coming to conclude that if you think they're chasing you, it's because they're gaining ground and think you're easy prey.

It's an even playing field, I sail against wind and spam eye of reach till they give up, never met one not to in less than 15 minutes. They know it's not worth the time to chase an equally competent sailer who can easily troll.

  • I like to see how long people will chase me.

  • @evbof20187734 +1

  • for the record I feel the same way sailing solo or with a galleon

  • I was playing solo today when another solo sloop stopped on the island I was looting. It was night and I didn’t see or hear the other ship approach. I would have totally left them alone if they didn’t shoot at me while I was looking for treasure. I ran quickly and came upon their ship somewhat unexpectedly so I swam aboard, dropped the sail and set course for open waters, looked for loot (they had none), and jumped. I then swam directly to my own ship and took off. They were P****D! Sorry but not sorry...why shoot at someone if you’re not ready for the retribution? This is a pirate game, right? I was ready to be friendly but they changed up the narrative.

So, the way I see it, it’s a game about being a pirate. Expect the unexpected...and just laugh at the silliness of it all.

Fine, and my cannon balls, bananas, and planks

  • @korinra scuttle ship to refill...

  • @korinra becausae most ppl who attack. have nothing to lose .. everyship that has attacked me first and gotten sunk has next to nothing .. meanwhile I usually have 15k plus worth of goodies on board

  • Maybe in the future they'll consider adding a chain-shot ammunition or similar sail-shredding techniques for those pesky pacifists. ;)

  • How about you get a life and play the game without trying to ruin other people's experience?

  • @avecrux said in When a ship you're chasing won't stop fleeing.....:

    @korinra scuttle ship to refill...

It blows my mind that "Scuttle the Ship" is supposed to be a solution to get away from another pirate ship...

IT SINKS YOUR SHIP!!! That is EXACTLY why I'm trying to get away from the griefers! Then THEY just get free candy because it leaves all your loot floating in the sea for them to grab and they didn't have to waste an resources trying to kill you!
