More Setting Options

  • Some are fairly simple to implement, others not so much. But here are some simple settings that myself, and countless others would appreciate. Most of these being QOL options that could hopefully make it's way into the game and be available to players sometime in the near future!

    FOV:
Increase the maximum FOV to 110

    • A wider FOV will allow players who use a 16:9 monitors (as most of the player base does) to have a much more comfortable experience overall.

    Viewmodels:
    Add a "minimize viewmodels" option

    • Many of the skins for the weapons look great, but they never get used because they are just too large on the screen. Lowering the weapons slightly will allow us to use much more skins (I can't see half of the screen with some weapons)

    Higher FPS caps:
Add these options for higher refresh rate monitors.

    • Having a 300 fps cap doesn't make sense for players with higher end GPUs when they could be hitting more than 300 in certain areas of the game. As more and more people buy monitors with 360hz+ refresh rates, having higher fps caps would be nice to have. (This would also be a good opportunity to fix that bug of teleporting back to helm above 237 fps)

    The more difficult settings:

    Add DLSS + NVIDIA Reflex

    • These would likely require some updates and massive changes to the overall build of the game, but it is possible. This would update the game to be on par with other games that have had these options for years now. I would have added frame generation in this list, but that is simply not possible for the version of UE4 that sot runs on unfortunately... Unless of course the game is remastered in UE5 :)

If anyone has any other ideas or ways to improve on these I've stated, please do so! I'm curious to see what other uses on the forums think about these.

    Thanks!!

I have an ultra wide monitor and it auto scans for more then the standard 90 FOV, yes the settings still say 90 but the viewport is bigger.

Rare has been pretty clear they they do not want to go over the 90 FOV supplied

Yes more and more people buy these monitors however it is still only a subset of a subset of players, most players play on xbox and then the number of players that buy a +/- $900 dollar monitor is minimal.

244hz is SLOWLY becoming more standard

Remastering it to ue5 is not really an “easy” fix, they stopped updating engines at around 4.6 since they had to add alot of features to UE to make sea of thieves even work. All this custom work is not that easily ported over and would likely mean a rewrite

  • FOV won’t ever ever change.

Ah yes. 300 fps is considered “low” now days xD
