Deep sea diving with crew responsible for raising/lowering diver in the same fashion as operating the ship anchor. This would be the perfect opportunity for a new AI threat lurking deep underneath.

Diving suits didn't come around until the 19th century (maybe late 18th century). This game has a more of a early 18th or late 17th century setting.

@fantome-of-blue Going by that logic, mermaids should be removed from the game because they all went extinct in the mid 16th century.
Edit: The original invention was in 1715 by John Lethbridge - a century before rifle scopes were invented...
