Hourglass circle shrinking to stop running players

  • Hello Rare ! Ive recently came to the Idea of an shrinking zone in hourglass to stop players from running . My last 10 fights have all been runners it was almost Impossible to sink them so ive came to the conclution that it would be a great idea to make so after 10 minutes the hourglass circle slowly shrinks so the max time an hourglass fight can take is 45 minutes .

Think about the map for a moment. We have islands, and some times those hourglass fights happen around islands. What gonna happen if the ring shrinks just enough, it cuts off both ships from reaching each other?

    The runner wil still "win"

max time an hourglass fight can take is 45 minutes .

I miss the fights where they lasted hours (or ingame days) and everyone enjoyed it.

  • @burnbacon
In solo slooping no one enjoys runners. The circle should then go at the place where there are no Islands close. It makes no sense to be running because it is a Pvp Game mode if you dont want to fight simply dont play hourglass.

  • @ughabugha187 Running is also PvP though....

I do agree that legit running in hourglass is annoying (i do say legit, because a lot of accusations of running is just people resetting after taking in a lot of damage), but so is people that are only interested in TDM and not in the naval fight. If we are trying to 'ban' parts of PvP from hourglass, should we then also ban that?

And some people don't think you should use curseballs in hourglass, should that be banned from the mode?
    Or what about bonecallers?
    Etc.
    Etc.

  • Do you know why some people choose PVP but keep running and don't want to fight?
Because there is a ridiculous reward in PVP that requires people to run 1000 nautical miles.

  • @mr-spx-ss yes, that too. It's an example of a commendation that incentivizes people to not play (a mode of) the game as intended. Unfortunately there are more of those that either require cheesing or deliberately frustrating people in order to get them.

Wouldn't it just be easier voting for Hourgalss and not dive, sail around while waiting to be invaded ?

If you do get invaded and win the fight, you'll have a certain amount of time before the next invasion that can be used to sail around to get those miles.

  • @mr-spx-ss I hope you know you can just vote up your hourglass and go sailing after a while youre probially gonna get invaded but then u can just let them sink you . And these are not the people im talking about im talking about people that go far away and raise theyre sails.
