So I made a rubbish drawing for one of these on paint during the closed beta. People still seem to be having trouble as solo sloop versus a Galleon so thought i'd try and help out. This is a very effective manoeuvre from when you are being pursued with the wind astern.

nice graphic. i just did something similar to this last night while being pursued by a galleon. then i dropped anchor in this perfect spot, where a rock was right between me and them. waited there a few minutes, and they lost me. 👍

I think the Periplous manoeuvre is far more interesting!

One thing I did, I was being chased. I went between two tight rocks in the sea... and threw barrels overboard, which they could not out maneuver bc the rocks.
Yeah i've wanted to be in a situation like that!

Ships sink faster if they are under sail. if they are stopped they don't sink as fast. noticed this when I was testing how much damage one barrel does to a sloop. it does 4 holes in it, and sinking fast. I dropped anchor to not run aground on some other island and the sinking slowed
