Creator Spotlight - Azuki
For our latest Creator Spotlight, we’ve been fortunate enough to poke and prod the pizza-loving, chicken-dancing Pirate Legend Azuki. From her humble beginnings as a fledgling Sea of Thieves content creator on Twitch, she’s become a creative force for good in the community. Join us and discover the Azuki story!

[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?
[A]: My father had a TurboGrafx when I was about six years old and we would play games such as Bonk’s Adventure, Blazing Lazers and a few more. All of my cousins would also play Mortal Kombat with me as a kiddo!
[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?
[A]: One of my close friends, Dee (BBXH), suggested this game to me when I came back to streaming a year ago! I immediately jumped on board (get it? Haha!) and never looked back. It was because of great friends and adventures that I became part of the Sea of Thieves community. I was welcomed by so many new friends from viewers to content creators. For the first time, I felt like I belonged and it has been an amazing journey since.
[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?
[A]:I started on and off around 2016 but did not go full force on streaming until I went to BlizzCon 2016 and saw the lack of female representation in competitive gaming. So, I set out on a mission to create an esports team called ‘Sweet Synergy’ and started streaming practices and more!
[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?
[A]: Naturally, I am a competitive gal. I came from an FPS background and competed during Counter-Strike 1.6 CAL days. For me, the player interactions on the seas make this game so much fun! I love PvP but sometimes I just want to full-on Alliance a whole server. I make sure that the content I create is fun, uplifting and a safe place for everyone. So, when I decide to make content I focus on player interactions and good times with the community!
[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?
[A]: Time. Time is always slipping away! The biggest challenge is coordinating all the epic sails with other amazing content creators, as well as setting time aside to edit videos for other social media platforms.
[Q]: What different channels do you have?
[A]: Well, besides my Twitch channel, I also upload my content on YouTube. My other channels can be found on my personal website: NikkiWulf.com.
[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?
[A]: There’ve been so many, from meeting amazing players on the seas to sailing out with friends on a fully packed server. I think the most memorable one for me is when the community got together to do The Legend of Glitterbeard and we all cried on Discord.
[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?
[A]: I truly enjoy all the Tall Tales. I feel that they are immersive, engaging and beautiful! Honestly, I am looking forward to perhaps more (new) Tall Tales in the future. I am not sure what the plans are but a girl can dream for more!
I also enjoy all the adventures and interactions you can have. It is never the same game every day, there’s always something new happening. I look forward to the continued growth of this amazing game!
[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?
[A]: I was known as MissAzuki until my recent name change. The way I got this name is silly: I was 13 years old, I loved anime (and still do) and so I created a fictional character named Azuki. It roughly translates to ‘red beans’ in Japanese and as a kid, it was one of my favourite foods, as silly as it seems! Have you ever had sweet red beans? YUM!
[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?
[A]: One of the things I’m proud of is filming a short documentary called Fight Like a Girl, which followed amazing women into the world of competitive gaming. This short film won a few awards years back and I think it has had an amazing impact on women who play.
[Q]: What do you like to get up to when you’re not streaming?
[A]: Many things! I love to travel and sample different foods and learn about other cultures. Exploration is amazing and I try to do this through the various types of meals I try on the weekends. Eventually, I am going to open up a food YouTube channel just for that reason!
When not doing those things, I also write and direct films! The goal is to be an influential woman in filmmaking and gaming.
[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?
[A]: Content creating is supposed to be fun! Don’t worry about the viewership numbers, turn that off! You will enjoy streaming a whole lot more when you don’t stress about how many people are watching you at the time.
[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?
[A]: Do not self-advertise in another streamer’s chat. It is considered bad etiquette if you come in to drop your links or say “I’m going to go stream right now, see ya!” Be courteous, y’know?
[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?
[A]: For the last 5-6 years I have worked on movie sets, commercials and TV shows. One of my most recent favourite shows I worked on is Umbrella Academy season 2. Oh, and you may catch my name in an Oscar-winning film entitled Moonlight as well!
And that’s it for another Creator Spotlight! A massive thanks to Azuki for chatting with us about herself and all things Sea of Thieves. We’re off to see if we can hunt down some of those sweet red beans…
