Creator Spotlight - LadyHaradaNiwa
We’re back to meet another streaming Sea of Thieves star, and once again we wanted to shine the Spotlight on a recent addition to the Partner Programme! Joining us at the end of 2022, this cosplay queen has made quite a splash on the Sea of Thieves scene, even cosplaying as heroine Belle at SoTFest last year. From her wild antics to her welcoming and friendly community, LadyHaradaNiwa is a creator well worth catching up with…

[Q]: What was your introduction to the world of games?
[A]: My dad was the one who got me my first console which was a Nintendo 64, I was on it day and night. Then on my sixth birthday I asked my dad for a PlayStation. I was hooked on RPGs like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts and I’ve been glued to gaming since.
[Q]: How did you become part of the Sea of Thieves community?
[A]: I saw the reveal of Belle from Season Five and I really wanted to cosplay as her. She looked like my kind of vibe, exactly what I feel stands out, and had a lot of character about her. Once I completed my Belle cosplay, I posted her onto social media. It blew up in the space of a few months and everyone loved it!
She was the character that brought me back to the game. I used to play Sea of Thieves in 2021 with a good friend, but unfortunately he passed away so I stopped playing. But it was Belle and the Sea of Thieves community that brought me back to rule the seas!
[Q]: How did creating content become your ‘thing’?
[A]: I bought a laptop mainly to play games on it, as I worked 60 hours a week and wanted something to unwind, as it were. But ApocalypseUK was like “why don't you try out streaming, I think you'd be good at it” and I’m quite an outgoing person generally. So I’ve been streaming since May 6th, 2021 and have loved it since. I’ve become more creative with my cosplays and have grown a lot of confidence.
[Q]: How do you decide what kind of content to create?
[A]: I would say Sea of Thieves naturally changed my views and ways of content creation. I would just cosplay characters from games I enjoyed over the years, but Sea of Thieves, starting with Belle, took me down a path to start focusing on the details of characters and what brings them to life. Mixing that with TikTok and the transitions you can use truly allowed me to bring my art to life.
[Q]: What are some of the challenges you’ve faced while creating content?
[A]: I would have to say some of the biggest challenges I've had to face involved getting over the fear that naturally not everyone is going to like my content or even me as a content creator, and getting into that frame of mind to understand this and move forward from it, not let it bring me down and continue to pursue what I enjoy for myself and the community that enjoy my content.
[Q]: What different channels do you have?
[A]: I have a YouTube channel, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and Twitch where I create my content and have built an amazing supportive community.
[Q]: What’s been your most memorable Sea of Thieves moment so far?
[A]: Most memorable moment I ever had on Sea of Thieves was when I got Twitch Partnered. I thought it was a hate raid at first, but when they all started cheering and telling me to check my dashboard, I just started to break down while playing because it truly is Sea of Thieves that’s allowed me to become a full-time content creator and get Partnered on Twitch.
[Q]: What do you enjoy most about the game now, and what are you looking forward to in future?
[A]: I really loved Season Eight because it’s PvP on demand. I love that you can still do your normal sailing and get into a battle with just the Hourglass activated. What I would love for the future is to have a story about Belle and get to know her as a character, see what her story’s about, and other characters that may be lurking in the background but aren't within the main Sea of Thieves picture at the moment.
[Q]: What’s something you’re particularly proud of accomplishing in gaming?
[A]: I’m extremely proud that I got Twitch Partner and Sea of Thieves Partner in less than three months, and that people have been enjoying my content.
[Q]: How did you come up with your channel name?
[A]: Lady is from Devil May Cry and Harada Niwa is from DNAngel which has always been my favourite anime. I’m into angels and demons, so my name is based on angels and demons.
[Q]: What do you like to get up to when you’re not streaming?
[A]: When I’m not streaming I like to think of new content and work on new cosplays. But I do also enjoy going out wining and dining with friends and family.
[Q]: What advice would you give to a new content creator?
[A]: If you want to get into content creating, you have to learn how to brand yourself and your name. Play games that make you happy, preferably stick with one game for a while to allow yourself to build a community, try to make it into a hobby first and don’t burn yourself out.
[Q]: What’s one thing you would advise a content creator not to do?
[A]: Try not to copy other people’s content, don’t always trust people so easily you meet online, gather a community first and get to know people a little more to understand who you can or can’t trust as maybe mods for you if you’re a streamer. Try your hardest to NOT focus on numbers, and focus on those that are there for you.
[Q]: Could you give us one more random fact about yourself?
[A]: I’m an outgoing potty-mouth streamer who likes to make everyone feel welcomed. I love to put a smile on people’s faces and to make sure they have a better day. My brain never sleeps as when I’m creative I think of so many things I want to make and achieve.
And so ends another Creator Spotlight showcasing one of our recent Partner additions! We’d like to give a big thank you to LadyHaradaNiwa for taking the time to answer our questions – we’re very excited to see what other creative cosplays she shows off in 2023.
