is that a "skill issue" ?

  • like always i prepared myself for hourglass fight. i paid all my recources and take the time to check every single barrel of the outpost.

And then i found a game with a guys who literraly have infinite bone caller. Every time i took the advantage, he was throwing bone caller, and as soon as i killed the skeletons, more spawned, and while i was struggling with infinite ennemy on my ship, he repair his mast and run away. and when he took the advantage once, he riddled my with canon ball and bone caller at the same time, and naturally i sunk.

I found out that he made all this bone caller with a glitch on the new trap.

I think this is a good example of why we should have equal resources in hourglass. but you can call that a skill issue if you want.

  • @timeo1750 I would just like to have non game breaking bug riddled patches.

Having equal resources in Hourglass wouldn't have stopped him from exploiting to get more bone callers during the match though.

The exploit should be patched ASAP.

  • @lem0n-curry can also stop every recources exploit that still exist, and the future one. And i hope the patch will be fast, I am litteraly afraid of playing hourglass rn.

  • @ghutar so do I

  • I found out that he made all this bone caller with a glitch on the new trap.

    So...you found a exploit and...

I think this is a good example of why we should have equal resources in hourglass.

Want Hourglass to have same resources instead of reporting the exploit?

but you can call that a skill issue if you want.

You know, Lure dart helps :P and the spawned skeletons vs a Sword dash...they dont stand a chance.

  • @burnbacon have same resources can prevent all (present and futur) recources exploit using in hourglass. and i don't have to report it, it's already done by other.
also, i play neither blowpipi and sword, I should have changed my weapon, but I remind you that I was under enormous pressure, and that the skeletons could have beaten me up if I'd stayed still for changed weapons. and even with a sword, they keep respawning, I would still have wasted time killing them instead of repairing the ship.

  • Once the exploit has been patched, it’ll go back to being a skill issue ;)

  • @timeo1750 don't bother responding to Becon, he is only stable part of SoT experience and its horribly bad one.

Again he is showing up in eny HG related topic, no he didin't crawl to eny curse but here he is allways with some made up scenario.

I remeber times when he spam questions for evidence in each cheater releted topic when we all know that it's againt rules to publish records with other player nick here.

I think that proper way to fix resuorce problemsis just throw enything you can buy as starting ones and then remove ability to buy them.

  • I think this is a better example of why they need to be harsher on exploiters. Even if the resources started equal, in this case they could have duplicated more.

People willing to cheat, whether it's a hack or an exploit should be banned.

There are games from 25 years ago that auto identified duping tactics and items and would auto remove the items.

I think a part of the issue with SoT exploiting is that the game is often behind the times on things like duping.

People that are doing the major duping on the pvp side are probably already banned and just using alts. It's more about quickly identifying and removing duped items from servers.

Even more important than the bans is removing these items quickly from the ecosystems of servers.

Every time there is a merge or a dive, etc duped items should be getting tossed out. Then they do whatever with the bans. Banning alts doesn't do anything about these duped items wrecking ecosystems and experiences as they float around until they get used/despawned.

  • @wolfmanbush sure fixing the game so that people can't exploit in the first place is important, but continuing to allow people who are willing to cheat to have a home in the game is also a huge problem. I don't believe that every exploiter would be willing to immediately create an alternate account instead of just stopping/being less willing to cheat.

  • Duplicate exploit. The fact that they didn't fix this before community weekend is insane. And the worst part is that it won't have any consequences for them. It's as bad as cheating to have 100+ skelly bombs, curse balls etc. They just spam that all the time.

I will be HIGHLY disappointed if they do not take action and actually give those who abused this exploit a ban.

  • @timeo1750

Not too long ago a certain frequently banned YouTuber was banned and people were on these forums begging (for some weird fanboy reason) to have this person unbanned. Well I just randomly stumbled upon a video this person made less than 24 hours ago demonstrating how to dupe bone callers, and presumably it works for other curse balls as well.

My guess is that my sessions this weekend will be full of bone callers and the dorks using them will be saying the catch phrase I just saw in that video. Then randoms will be on these forums asking to keep the exploit in the game because it “adds to the skill gap”.

So glad that guy is back on the seas………..

Edit; actually now that I think about it, his YouTube channel was what was affected by an action SoT took against it, I think copyright issues. Here is my formal vote to reintroduce those actions against his YouTube account. He’s not making any money from his content anyway, it’s not like this would hurt his livelihood. If anything it might help his livelihood.

  • @capt-greldik i know who you are talking about and while i dont agree with quite a few of his methods what Rare ltd did was actually abusing legal systems in order to deplatform him.

Yea, what rare did (DMCA his videos) was illegal

  • @callmebackdraft

Should just ban anyone promoting exploits on platforms and making it common knowledge. No sense in removing content from a different platform if there is no content to create. Most of the videos are clickbait and don't actually show or explain the methods in detail, which is 'smart' to an extent.

On a positive note this means that Rare will likely have it fixed sooner rather than later as it's becoming more widespread. Should honestly disable traps again until it is solved.

  • @ghutar i saw him defending exploiter more than one time. I wonder who is he, i though he's just a rage bait bot or something, but not a human with common sense

  • Any word from Rare why traps weren't disabled? Another community weekend spoiled this time by exploits of Bone Callers and Curseballs. Last one was keg launching by crouch exploiting. When will this be fixed and why is it still in the game? Disappointing to say the least.

The comms/rewards being bugged appears to be pretty widespread from what I have seen.

So, since there is a damaging exploit and some of the rewards are bugged for many anyway I think it makes a strong case for holding off on release, imo.

  • @wolfmanbush

I'm not referring to comms and rewards being bugged. That is clearly an issue but that has little impact on the individual player experience aside from a few cosmetics and check marks.

I'm referring to the negative effect the bone callers and curses are having on both adventure and hourglass and how widespread this exploit has become. This is inhibiting progression and creating disdain amongst players and the community leading to a poor overall gaming experience. I expected this to be disabled for a second time before community weekend until it were functioning as intended. A weekend to celebrate the game and the community within. It's simply not a good look, far worse than releasing a game-breaking new exploit after a failed attempt to fix it.

  • @cainbong Honestly my community weekend is gonna be a bit biased as I only had about 1 full day out of the 3 to play HG but still. My regular brig crew are nothing crazy; probably rank somewhere in the lower percentile of crews in HG if I had to guess. This weekend however, we did pretty good and not even joking; the only times we lost of the 20 plus matches was 3 matches where absolute swabbies did nothing but exploit bone callers. Honestly, I feel this is one of the worst exploits to ever been in this game as a Day One player(Xbox). Certain exploits I feel have actually naturally been adaptable for the community: sword lunge, crud launch, etc. This however, feels extremely cheap and unfair to EVERYONE involved.

At least with things like crud launch and sword lunge there has/were skill gaps involved in perfecting them. This bone caller thing is so easy to cheat it’s laughable. Personally it almost feels as if at this point they purposefully create these weird bugs/exploits on purpose. Cause they know it’ll draw more attention albeit negative to the game.
