Hour glass

  • So the other day I ran into a brig defending, they had their ship stuck in dagger tooth and couldn’t sink since it was super shallow and we couldn’t raise their anchor and drag them out, we even kegged them and it didn’t work, is this allowed I asked rare and they just ignored it which tells me this is allowed,

  • @thefinalist8256 Ahoy matey!

While it IS technically allowed... it is bad sportsmanship. Report this via the support site as the team are very interested in cases where their new changes to prevent this isn't working.

It's also worth noting that this topic was also mentioned in the latest podcast below. So, the team hasn't stopped working to prevent it.

Again, not bannable, not against any rules... just bad sportsmanship!

  • @musicmee ok, yea I did report it I sent a service ticket but they hit me with the oh will investigate it but results are internal, (meaning they sent gonna do anything about it) and when I asked directly they just closed the case without comment,

  • @thefinalist8256

    Ahoy!

I did some reports too, for similar cases. Currently I had the same answers than you, but it seems they are taking care of this problem, as they are discussed about it in the last postcast.
They will try to make the ship disponed if it can not sunk, (but have enought water in its hull to sunk in normal case).

Don't know when this fix will be updated

  • “Bad sportsmanship”
There so much of that and only a few of them will be fixed or dealt with.

  • They actually listed this as patched although they were addressing each individual site it was being done while the 'guardians of fortune ' team in background are working on underlying issue.

I haven't seen it done in sloops for awhile so maybe only other ships now applicable.

  • @hiradc yea I was in a brig, and they had themselves lodged in the broken ship thing on the backside of dagger,

  • @thefinalist8256 I think we ran into this crew as well. Were you on console? I can’t believe this is allowed? We tried harpooning them out and still didn’t work. They exploited and to make it worse, just griefed and spammed comments bc they knew they were invincible.

  • @musicmee but Music, if it isn’t “baneable” or “suspendable”, isn’t that just encouragement for all players to do it? We have run into this and it completely dislodges gameplay as much as a cheater, if not more. Cheaters can be sunk.

These absolutely unsinkable players have ruined hard earned win streaks and are able to get away free … while getting rewarded.

It is mal-intent, griefing, toxicity, etc. via exploits. I do not understand how it’s just seen as “poor sportsmanship”.

Thank you for letting me air that out. We do sincerely appreciate all you do for the game. Hope all is well!

  • @el-c4pitano Hey matey!

No worries at all... Rather than make it bannable with a lot of work for support to watch hour after hour of recordings of bad sportsmanship, the dev team hopes to have this one mopped up sooner rather than later.

  • @musicmee so Crud launching is bannable, but if you park your ship so it CANNOT SINK in a sink/win battle, it isn't ,
Like, is that or is that not an unfair advantage that clearly benefits one crew over another. How is that any different from anything else people get banned for?

This is what my crewmate said and I couldn’t have asked it better

  • @el-c4pitano yep Xbox only ship name was even dagger tooth outpost

  • @thefinalist8256 Again, from what I can gather, funny launches on the whole have never been deemed a banable exploit either.

But I'm with you 100% both should be bannable but the man hours it would take for players to report and have the videos verified and the intent of the positioning of the ship would just not reap any good rewards.

Its the intent here... that makes the real difference.

I have my hourglass flag up but haven't had a battle offered to me in a long time, so I head to Krakens Fall and head to the center of the island to get to the best vault unloading position, when suddenly I get dropped into an Hourglass battle. Should they be banned too? (All very hard to get across in a 5 minute clip sent to support)

The better way to handle this is to have both funny launching and unsinkable locations fixed ASAP.

  • @musicmee but one of the things I submitted was the pov of the cheeser doing this, and rare still did nothing I kinda understand the vault issue at krakens but when I have proof of them completely abusing it, it’s disheartening when rare ignores it, my clips have no uncertainties about what was going on,

  • #1 put your reaper flag up attract as much attention as you can most of the player base hate exploiters and will likely help if you communicate with them.

#2 my personal strategy is to spam explosive darts from above to take out the people bucketing.

#3 go full sword/harpoon gun it's ridiculously easy to ladder guard when doing the exploit so harpoon on from above and slash away.

  • Pretty wild to have exploits last for years in a risk/reward game and people are largely just expected to deal with it till it maybe gets fixed... temporarily.

Personally I just leave when I see exploiting and I play in a way where it's not gonna be a big inconvenience to just bounce.

Not worth the time, the frustration, or the effort to drag it on in any way.

This is a game where people wanna act like it's some serious pvp game but then they make excuses for their exploiting. "Not an e-sports game" isn't why the competitive scene isn't taken seriously here, it's people dismissing and justifying exploiting all day while going on and on about cheating.

It's part of the reason so many skilled players that play clean so often take months off from the game at a time. If they didn't quit altogether. By the end of this thing it'll just be content creators and people absorbed in the status bubbles left at the experienced level. That makes for a lot less fun pvp experience.

People were getting boats stuck on purpose literally 5 years ago. Sanctuary, golden sands, krakens, devil's ridge, thieves haven. People were doing this in random adventure that long ago.

A lot of the habitual exploiters are arrogant self reporters so it's not like there is some big mystery about who is doing what out there.
