Hungering Deep was underwhelming

  • @braxkedren You didn't read anything I said in this thread...

  • @sileepytime You mean the complaints about things you where never promised? or the general whining?

  • I'm a little confused. They stated from the beginning it was a smaller update (call it content, expansion...don't care).

But even for a smaller update you got :

    • Multiple (many mulitple) cosmetics for the ship, yourselves (including legendary pirates), new tattoos, scars, flags, etc.
    • A quest mission that takes easily 4 hours to complete if you're not following a forum or reddit giving you the answers.
    • A new AI fight that is also going to end up becoming a random event.
    • A new drum to play with.
    • A new long distance megaphone to play with.
    • Set up for more things to come with the Bilge Rats.

Maybe I'm missing what "small" is...but that sure seems like a lot of work for a month of leeway......I think some folks expectations needs to be a little tempered here, or they should play other games.

  • @raggedynaphtali said in Hungering Deep was underwhelming:

@sileepytime They added sails, a new figure head, and a boat paint job. Not to mention recolors to match everythng else and whole new item set. You must be one of those kids that whines when they dont get more presents for Christmas than last year....

Actually the figurehead is a holdover from either alpha or beta..

  • @raggedynaphtali Like i said before there should have been more content in this expansion. I'm not whining just giving my opinion on the game. Not my fault your expectations were so low for Sea Of Thieves.

  • @habiki OMG, some logic. Half of the people on these forums sound like entitled, spoiled children. Stop inferring, and listen to the devs. Not a difficult concept to understand.

  • @warspyder Sorry that we expected more from rare

  • @sileepytime That's your own personal mistake. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. It's not on them if you expected more. As a customer, appreciate that they did not over promise and under deliver. This game will only continue to build and get better, as was intended from the beginning.

  • I agree, for something named “Hungering Deep” it was pretty shallow...

Why are you on the forum if you think the game is perfect? Why not go play it and leave us to give feedback. Stop white knighting please...

    be a good sheep...lol

  • @stubbierbell598 At no point did I say it was perfect. I'm sitting at a computer at work, because I have a full time job...any other questions?

  • @warspyder why so salty?

  • @skunkbrand77 LOL. I'm certainly no sheep, in any sense of the word. If only you knew me in real life, you would slap yourself for inferring such a ridiculous thing. I said someone thought logically [against the masses of this forum i might add (which would be who the true sheep are...)], so try again.

  • @stubbierbell598 You called me out, and put words in my mouth...I responded without attacking you, and I answered your question...where the salt?

  • @sileepytime said in Hungering Deep was underwhelming:

@ve111a If they told me that the game would be released with only 20% content then they will release the rest in about 1 year I wouldn't have bought it.

    Did you buy Destiny?

  • @warspyder read your posts man... making a mess with all that salt...

  • @stubbierbell598 Not really. I like a good debate, and you've offered nothing of value to the debate YOU started with me. Yet you continue to reply to my posts...

  • @el-dunco no

Are we not debating about your salt?

  • @stubbierbell598 You're a decent troll I'll give you that.

  • @sileepytime smart move

  • @stubbierbell598 Because the feed back on expectations never promised is terrible and we dont this game to turn into a CoD meaningless pile of trash. Some one has to be the adult around here.

  • @rarden no

  • @sileepytime said in Hungering Deep was underwhelming:

@ant-heuser-kush Not free we paid 60usd for this game remember?

Just a thought but, at least they continue to add stuff after the fact for free. Destiny charges people money to enjoy what people would consider an "incomplete game" at launch. If you consider Sea of Thieves an incomplete game at launch at least they are completing it over time for free.

I enjoy playing this game and despite it having it's struggles with repetitiveness like most if not all games do, the experience each time out is different because the battles and people you come across are always unique every single time. As they add more it will only add to this equation.

Would you have preferred this small update to have cost money? Just because the game cost money does not make this update "NOT FREE"

  • Not sure if anyone so far has watched the latest Developer update, released today which talks around what happens after this two week event and going forward -

  • @katttruewalker I am glad you posted that. It does not seem though these people here care about what is going on with the game!

  • This "expansion" is embarrassment to the gaming industry.

  • @thewolfman321 said in Hungering Deep was underwhelming:

@sileepytime it was never called a big expansion, it was free, and it was the first of 5 confirmed expansions. Chill yo beans.

Also, I'm pretty sure that it was mentioned this one would be small as they only had a couple of months to make it.

I quite liked what I played today, but if a team of 30 devs took two months to design the stuff they added in this expansion that explains a lot about why the game launched the way it did. What I played was one week of work tops.

yeah, because its a content update like they said it was.

    Comprehension matters.

There are one man dev teams adding more content in Unity projects than this expansion provided. So either the people in charge over there are mediocre at best, or they really don't care and are just taking their sweet time adding random things to keep their jobs.

  • @el-dunco
We are probably overreacting because we have been grinding away at this game doing the same c**p over and over again. 150 levels to get legend only to be followed by another 10 levels of the same thing! Gold, souls and merch thats it

This "update" isn't even worth being called a patch. They added a big shark with lots of HP that also attacks the ship, wow so much fun and so much work must have went into it.

    It's embarrassing, period.

  • @x1-two And you work for a video game company? or Have video game development experience to make that kind of Judgment?
