Flora ideas

  • So theres alot of threads about animals and weapons and creatures that they could add to the game, but theres not really a list of flora/plants they could add.
PS this thead is inspired by https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/32277/plants/16

So there is already Bananas but ill just list them anyway

Bananas (Food item to heal yourself) (Feed to animals)
Coconut (Food item to heal yourself) (Feed to animals)
Mangos (Food item to heal yourself) (Feed to animals)
Berries (Food item to heal yourself) (Feed to animals)
P****a (Food item to heal yourself) (Feed to animals)
Mushrooms (some would be benign and heal you, some would be poisonous, whether that be damaging you or causing you to hallucinate idk)
Man Eating Venus Flytrap (Hostile plant, nuff said.)
Creepvines (These would provide an obstacle on certain islands that you would have to cut through or risk being caught and strangled for damage over time until you free yourself)
Vines (These you would just have to cut through they wouldn't "attack" you)
Sugar Cane (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company)
Truffles (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company) (Could potentially need to let loose a pig on the island to find them)
Wheat (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company)
Barley (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company)
Flax (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company)
Wolfsbane (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company) (Could potentially have tie ins with the OOS company, for some mystical properties)
Sage (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company) (Could potentially have tie ins with the OOS company, for some mystical properties)
Thyme (Resource that you need to collect for the MA company) (Could potentially have tie ins with the OOS company, for some mystical properties)
Moss (Sometimes you just want something to add variety to the flora of an island) (this may already be in game, if it is you need to make it much more pronounced)
Star flower (Just something pretty to look at)
Ditch Lily (Just something pretty to look at)
Hydrangeas (Just something pretty to look at)
literally add every single flower from this link https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=tropical+flowers&FORM=HDRSC2
Bramble Patch (Thorny Brambles that slow you down and damage you if you move through them, they can be cut through.) INSPIRED BY @Ryz-Argos
Thorn Spitter (Some type of flower that spits thorns at you if you go near them, can be killed) (This ones kind of a cheat since its basicly a creature, but at the same time it IS flora as well, so ill give it a pass.)
this list really could go on forever so i'll stop here, for my sanity.

  • I never knew that I wanted to see a man eating Venus fly-trap in SoT until this moment.

  • @lewanderous right!?

  • @jack-littleshoe and as someone who lives in the sub-tropics, I can attest that mangoes are superior to bananas.

  • @lewanderous mangoes are [Mod edited] delicious, favorite fruit hands down! p*****s can fk off though, although that could be because i didn't prepare it right, still never getting one again.

  • @jack-littleshoe I have no idea what you did to that pawpaw (what we call p****a) but you shouldn't need to prepare it. Ripe pawpaws are eaten as is, pretty much.

  • @lewanderous hmm tried it raw, it was disgusting, tried cooking it after looking at how to prepare p****a, maybe i just got a bad pawpaw ?

  • Thorny plant, traps you for short while, doing damage as you move/pass through unless you chop it down!

  • i do believe the islands need a little more "peril" besides just random skeletons popping up. traps, wildlife, etc.

  • @jack-littleshoe the coconut should be a pet(a-la Monty pythons' horses)

  • @ryz-argos i would name mine wilson o.o

  • I'm not sure if there should be so many varieties, it would complicate too much, but include a couple more, perhaps as part of the merchant company.

  • I'm a big fan of the Man Eating Venus and the Vines in general.

And i do agree we need more variety in consumables.

    Bananas:

    Left Mouse: Restores 50 hitpoints.

    Sources:

    • Barrel of Bananas (Found throughout the world and on ships as a standard food supply)

    Coconut

Left Mouse: Restores 100 hitpoints. Needs to be cracked before consumption.
Right Mouse: Crack it on any surface to make it eatable.

    Sources:

    • Coconut Palm (Hack the tree and if you're lucky, a cocunut will fall down)
    • Barrel of Coconut (Must be bought at food merchants)

    Mango

Left Mouse: Restores 100 hitpoints and an additional 50 hitpoints over the next 5 seconds.
Can increase your hitpoints above 100 for the duration. Addtional hitpoints are lost after the duration expires.

Sources: This is a rare food.

    • Mango Tree (Hack the tree and if you're lucky, a mango will fall down)
    • Barrel of Mangos (Must be bought at the Legendary Outpost)

But i do believe theres too much stuff on this list. Excellent brainstorm of a list though.
Remember, this game is all about simplified mechanics and gameplay.

    Quality over quantity.

  • @quietrobot @Emanuel-Wynnn my goal with this list wasn't to have them add everything on it, it was to give them ideas/options, so i went overboard with things they could add, this way they can pick and choose if they want any of them.

  • @jack-littleshoe

True. And it's a very nice list indeed.

  • @emanuel-wynnn haha thx ^^
