Its been over a year, and I think the 3 original factions needs some updates on the types of missions they offer(the MA cargo run is the only change in that time) so I propose the following, and a few for the new factions:
Order of Souls
Pursuit missions:
In this mission style, it's similar to some tall tales. You chase a pirate captain/crew around the map after a series of clues. It would be similar to say, chasing Briggsy.
When you first start the mission, you get a typical "last seen on x island" and when you get there maybe you see a few skeletons, or one of the named crew, and defeating them gives a next clue. As you chase this down, you can finally get to the captain, who may be on an island or at sea. It's not too much different than the way some of the multi-chapter quests are now, but it at least has some narrative structure.
Archaeologist missions:
I'm envisioning a mechanic where regular skeletons periodically drop random bones and those could be brought back in a chest-with a full skeleton being a requested item from OoS.
Merchant Alliance:
Recovery missions:
As soon as this mission is activated, it spawns a sunken ship. You can get a key from any MA rep at an outpost, and this key opens up the hold from a sunken ship. Inside that hold is some special quest item that has to be brought back to it's original destination.
Speedy delivery:
Similar to a cargo run, but its just regular crates where the goal is to deliver it faster for a higher reward. Typically the delivery target is on the far side of the map and the gold/reputation earned is tied to how many days it took. (Maybe this gets tied into cargo runs)
Gold hoarders:
Plunder missions:
Deliver x amount of treasures stolen from other players. Basic concept.
Cursed treasure:
When you get this mission it puts a beacon on everyone's map that always identifies where the treasure is, even before it's unearthed. This means the mission is for the entire server once someone activates it.
Hunter's call:
Monster hunter:
Kill a specific stronger variant of meg/kraken that will spawn at certain areas and bring back some sort of dropped loot from it.
Fresh catch:
Deliver specific types of fish. Basically, the same thing as a MA mission.
Sea Dogs:
Capture the flag:
This would be a Adventure mode mission. Basically, what it sounds like-another server wide mission where a player has to put their flag, or lite their beacon at more islands over a 30 minute time than any other crew. Maybe that could just be a different Arena mode.
