The Curse of the Seven Seas - Idea for a big collaborative event

  • Imagine, you are quietly in your voyages with your crew, digging chests or trying to find pigs.

    Suddenly you hear the shrill sound of the trumpets. This squeaky sound that will startle all the Pirates of the Seven Seas.

    Then you'll see on the horizon the raise of a thick fog. The army of the dead will make no mercy. You give up your chests and run as fast as you can to your ship. You raise the anchor and sail straight towards the light that gradually decreases.

    Those who were not fast enough never came back to tell us their story.

    The fog brings the last survivors to the same spot on the map. No cannon shots are heard. Nothing breaks the silence.

    According to the legend, the ships of the dead have seven keys which unlock a door in the temple where are invaluable treasures. But you won't be able to defeat all the dead and survive on your own. Each crew defeated is a bigger risk of not having a treasure at the end. Your only choice is to collaborate with the other crews to stay alive together.

    You will not only have to protect your ship, but also the ships from the other crews.

    If you let your ship sink, you will not have another one until the end of the event. If you die, you will be captured by the dead. Then your only hope is for someone to release you.

    To defeat the curse, you'll have to unlock the temple with the seven keys held by the ships of the dead. The Merchant Alliance, the Gold Hoarder and the Order of the Soul guarantee to distribute the invaluable fortune to the crews who participated in the opening of the temple.

    Aye mateys! I want to tie the different crews together in an epic story. It's really something where you'll have to collaborate with the other crews, you won't be able to achieve that by yourself. Tell me what you think and I'll be glad to hear any suggestions you may have to improve this big event :)

  • That sounds like a crazy live event idea, I dig it. Probably hell to program, but probably would get a lot of good community content.

    Aye it would be really crazy, I can imagine all the excitement and fear when you'll hear the first sound. We could have so many incredible story to tell here :)

  • @skulliah I like the idea, however I wouldn't make it that players who didn't drop everything and sail to the light are killed or sunk, which is what it sounds like you meant. If players choose not to participate that should be up to them.

    Well, you're right, in my mind it was at least one player of your crew bring back one key to unlock the door. But yeah, I wanted something fair to all the players who tried and a way of not killing the other crew, quite hard to find the perfect balance!
