Community Spotlight – MrsPabl0

Ahoy, poppets! The Spotlight is once again beaming brightly across the waves and it’s now time to meet a sensational Scottish menace, a pirate with a penchant for playful pranks and soggy socks. Dive into the delightful adventures of MrsPabl0 to discover how this granny-turned-gamer has become well known on the seas and as part of SoT UK’s admin team…

[Q]: Can you tell us a little about what got you into gaming?

[A]: I got into gaming with my friends back when I was a teenager. We loved Paperboy, Mario and Sonic.

[Q]: Were you a Rare fan before Sea of Thieves? Do you have any favourite Rare games?

[A]: I became a Rare fan when Sea of Thieves came out. This game and community have stolen my heart and given me the best memories.

[Q]: What other games are you currently playing? Any favourites?

[A]: I play Fortnite and Sea of Thieves, with SoT as my main game. I’ve spent so many hours in Sea of Thieves!

[Q]: What brought you over to Sea of Thieves and its community?

[A]: My husband talked me into playing Sea of Thieves the day it came out, he told me it was like GTA but on seas with ships. That day I joined the ship at Plunder Outpost, I had no clue what we had to do and I never looked back.

[Q]: How did you first get involved with SoT UK?

[A]: My friend CaptOldMole invited me to be a moderator five years ago, as I was always active in the group and was always there to help out. I become lead admin in October 2023 when asked by the team to take the spot.

[Q]: What’s been your favourite part of helping to run one of our Affiliate Alliance groups?

[A]: The community! I have never known a community like Sea of Thieves. We have an incredible bunch of pirates who have also become good friends, building the amazing team we have now and watching everyone grow.

[Q]: What’s been your favourite event to run or get involved in?

[A]: I loved holding an event that some of our admins (Bekah and Ash) had come up with. It was a mystery event where one of our admins was killed off and the crews had to follow clues to find the body!

[Q]: Thinking back, are there any standout moments for you in Sea of Thieves since you started playing?

[A]: When my husband had the whole server fishing when The Arena first came out. All five ships met up and fished till the end, when Mr Pablo got us the win by going on a wild one and killing everyone.

[Q]: What are your favourite recent additions to Sea of Thieves?

[A]: My favourite thing has to be the Horn of Fair Winds and the giggles you get from it! I love trolling the crew with it and using it to speed through the water.

[Q]: What are your greatest achievements in a game, Sea of Thieves or otherwise?

[A]: Well, that has to be two Shrouded Ghosts. When I got my first Ghost after three years of playing, I think my whole street heard me scream like we’d won a football match.

Also, of course, becoming an admin for SoT UK and meeting the most amazing people.

[Q]: What names have you bestowed upon your Sea of Thieves pirate and ship?

[A]: My main ship is Ahoy Poppets, as it is respectful to say hi before a fight. My pirate is Granny Pabs as I become a gran in real life a year ago, so now everyone calls my pirate Granny Pabs.

[Q]: What kind of other hobbies do you enjoy outside of gaming?

[A]: I love spending time with my kid, husband and granddaughters. Being disabled I do not get outside much, so Sea of Thieves is my main hobby as I get to socialise with other people. I have met the most amazing friends who have become like family.

[Q]: Share a fun fact about yourself. Anything is fair game!

[A]: My pirate has soggy socks, so if you get a granny on your ship shouting “soggy socks” please drop anchor, you can trust me!
