Almondbeard strikes again.... what a ********
- You can lose your loot to a pirate... doing pirate things - thats part of the game. Thats understandable.
- You can lose your progress in the same way and thats fine.
- If my internet dies I get disconnected and it has nothing to do with the game.
- If my video driver crashes, I can understand that it may be my issue although I suspect the game is the issue as the problem doesn't exist for anything else (its speculation however)
With exception to the pirate stuff, the other mentioned scenarios have all happened to me in the last 24hours. I just have to accept the time lost there.
However twice today and on many other occassions (at least 5 that I can recall clearly) its had nothing to with any of the above and I've simply been a victim of the most notorious of them all - the Almondbeard.
Server disconnections happen. For the second time this week I have been on the final map for my Legendary quest - Solo and been struck by this fiend. Its rage quit material. You invest that time, keep your loot safe. Keep your ship in top shape and then boom "Almondbeard"....

For an online game it seems ridiculous that the game lacks such a feature as being able to resume your session due to server disconnection or the game not having any form of reconnection.
This game isn't a game you can just pick up and put down for 30mins at a time. You invest at least an hour or two, no resume sucks. Logically its the internet and its gonna go down from time to time or the servers may crash, kick you etc. So why doesn't this already exist?
For the sake of discussion and I know it has been brought up before, it would be great if you automatically carried over maps that you have found previous sessions (I understand this is probably not practical in practice... however just providing some examples)
Another thing that would be very handy to keep would be ship supplies (on the basis that you haven't been sunk)
Loot... maybe not. Although if its on the ship... then why not?
If you AFK for some reason (getting a snack or whatever) your ship is usually just sitting there or sailing away. I wonder if it would be difficult to allow a players ship and status on the server to remain (even if disconnected) for a short period after. Thus allowing the player to resume.
If you get attacked by an active player in this time or storm or sail off the map or whatever, then you would have to just accept that but.... you would be able to continue on from the outpost or respawn location.
If nothing happened in the time it took to resume, then you would just pick up where you left off. Is this really too hard to implement? or not a priority? I'm curious if any one else has had the similar issues recently.
Wish there was a title "Annoyed Pirate"
