Pirate Emporium Charity Purchasers Support St. Jude
During the Crews of Rage update, we added a special new ship cosmetic to the Pirate Emporium called the Valiant Dawn Sails. This was a charity purchase with proceeds being donated to the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, an organisation we’re very passionate about. Showing that they share this sentiment, and picking up some handsome sails along the way, the pirates of the Sea of Thieves community dug deep to raise a whopping $62,918.02 for patients and families at St. Jude!
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Its purpose is clear: finding cures. Saving children. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
“The gaming community continues to lend us its talent and hearts from some of the most generous, impactful supporters in the world,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO for ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organisation for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Because of individuals like those who participated in the Sea of Thieves fundraiser, we can ensure that parents never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”
We are incredibly proud of what the Sea of Thieves community has achieved by coming together to support an organisation that has such an impact on the lives of children and their families. From us here at Rare, thank you to every single player who snagged these sails, for your overwhelming generosity in helping to hit such a sizeable total. We’ll salute you when we see you on the seas!
