Hi, im a player who is registered blind and i have difficulty in seeing the birds at night and sometimes during the day. I would love the birds to be bigger and brighter or to be given the option in accessibility.
Birds around Wrecks
I’ve stated on similar threads in the past that this is a fantastic idea. Not necessarily making a change in the base game for everyone, but rather a toggle or setting you can adjust on your personal play preferences to make the contrast or size more noticeable against a night sky or in the Wilds. I play with a few friends who have similar issues and it would make a night-and-day difference (no pun intended) for them when doing Lost Shipments, for example. Maybe a glint in the distance like treasure gives off or something if size or contrast isn’t feasible.

Need to send this type of info to support. There a category for these types.
There is an accessibility option when sending to support. Of all the things SoT does wrong, they're decent about access.
I’ve been asking for this for years and have submitted accessibility requests for it. Myself and my main crewmate can’t see very well at night and as a result we just wait until the sun comes back up if we are hunting for birds.
When they introduced the brightness slider that was awesome but you have to turn it up at night and back down during the day and that’s so tedious.
It would be much nicer if there was an option to make the birds more visible at night or add better audio cues for them. Or maybe even use the aiming audio cues when using the spyglass to look for them.

Maybe the birds’ feet could glitter like treasure, since that effect is already in the game. It could be added to make the birds easier to spot.
a cool feature would be if it was added to the map if a player was close enough to it. So there was still sailing and adventuring required but it improved qol.
Not really fun to wait for night to become to day just to see some birds or wait for certain conditions just to spot them, etc.
this is a game with people playing in all types of different ways, lower settings, lower quality, older hardware, older screens. Map if somewhat close would help a lot of people out.
