  • Sea of Hunters (and or any name in my title)
Is my newest idea I literally came up with 2 secounds before I wrote this post, you see, Ive been watching the community, and what I've seen since these past few Hunters Call updates, in, and outside of, Insiders, is that the general amount of players (at least the vocal ones) love the Hunters Call updates.

My idea COULD if you like it and a lot of people see this and read even just a little bit of it be the next generation of the popular Sea of Thieves Hunters Calls most wanted updates.

Contents listed below for what you might be interested in.

    Sea of Hunters concept mode.

Sea of Hunters, a game mode where you hunt as much as you can, you start it by going to Shark Bait Cove, and going in a tavern that would be built over where Merricks old camp was, the inside would be fishing themed, with nets, anchors, Fish, Hooks and other random stuff hanging on the walls, shark jaws, harpoon wheels, and the two most of the most prominent Hunters Call representatives in the game, I don't have an idea of which two. Then walk up to the bar, and vote on a piece of paper, with an insignia of two crossed harpoon spears, a skull above them, and a flintlock below them pointing directly down. When you vote a crusty seaweed infested Butcher Knife will fall on the paper and stick in it.

Then the two representatives standing behind the bar, would probably give a speech or something, then you would get on your ship and dive to an area of the map full of little Isles, and hunt Boars, Megalodons, Krakens, Chickens, Fish, special NEW fish exclusive to the mode and its given area your in, and Seagulls. Your goal? Hunt and hoard as many animals as humanly possible, and cash in their pelts, and meat.
You could also alliance, with or kill the other 2 enemies, by using traps, muskets, swords, knives, bombs, flintlock, and harpoons. No ship combat unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, like the enemy ship being right next to your ship and firing, or spinning around you.
Whoever wins, gets Hunters Call rep, and titles, as well as a bit of gold. I guess it would be a lot like arena, but the way I'm picturing it, it wouldn't be anything like it.

    Page 2
    Muskets.

In order for the Hunters Call, and the Pirate experience to truly grow, we need a musket.
It wouldn't be a Eye of Reach without a scope, it would be a loooooong rifle, with a muzzle loader, and it would shoot 3 shots, until which you would have to reload.

Muskets would be a very welcomed gun in this game I think, it would be easy to aim, it would deal a good amount of damage, and it would LOOK piratey and Hunter...ish.
In addition to adding this, you NEED to add a feature to where, whatever two weapons you have equipped, will be visible on your pirates body. Knives would be hung on your belt, Muskets would be hung on your back, swords would be in your belt, flintlock also in your belt, and Eye of reaches could be hung on the side of your leg, and so on, you get the idea..

Muskets would shoot like a mix between a Flintlock, and a Eye of Reach, with the handling of a Grapple Gun.

    Page 3 (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!!!!)
    SEAGULL HUNTING!

SEAGULL HUNTING! Would be a quest, or just a feature in game you could do anytime.
You would have to hide on the deck of your ship, or in the brush of an island, you would either wait for a seagull, or, put bait out for the seagulls.
Bait for the seagulls would have to be something like, uncooked fish, pork, and chicken, or other seagull meat. For a HOARD of seagulls you would use Megalodon or Kraken meat, putting the bait out on barrels or the ground, or in a bear trap like the one in game, with Meg', or Kraken meat, would be getting a guarantee 13-15 seagull pelts, or meat.
You would definitely have to hide, and not move much, so that your wouldnt scare the seagulls. They would also have to add a way to crouch with guns.

The best guns for the hunts are these 3, Musket, Eye of Reach, Flintlock. Also to make these ideas and updates work beautifully add smoke to guns that have fired.

    Page 4
    Fishing nets.

Fishing nets would be a deployable net only available on a special fishing ship, I've named the Fish Rig, you would hold down Y and deploy the net, it would stay out and drag behind the boat until you decided to pull it in. Then based on how long, and how far you've sailed, you would get a certain amount of fish. If you put bait in the net, you could catch a variety between splashtail, and, whatever the bait you used catches. Nets could also have an extremely high chance to pull in crabs, and lobsters, which can be sold as a whole, the only thing you can do with them other than selling them is adding them to recipes to make certain foods to cook.

I think nets would be a great addition to the game, as well as a very popular idea.

    Page 5
Rig boat, also known as the Fish Rig.

The Fish Rig is a boat that is made specifically for fishing hunting, and tracking.
I don't know how to attach a picture, so I'll describe it in vivid detail: The ship, as long as a brigantine, with a small raised pavillion like structure towards the back with a sloped roof on it, that pavillion would be where the wheel is, and the nets and drag lines (drag lines are just fishing lines with 10-5 hooks on them that drag in the water as the boat moves.) are because it would be located towards the rear of the boat. two masts, with 3 sails in the back mast, and 2 in the front mast, and a small triangler sail attached to the tip of the bow, to the end where it attaches to the hull.
With cargo stacked on deck drag lines along the side and back of the boat, and nets at the back of the boat dragging in the water. It would be faster than a Brig, more maneuverable than a Galleon, and Brig, slightly smaller than a Brig, but bigger than a Sloop. It would be a longer ship like a Brig, but not more than a few feet longer than Brig.
The Fish Rig would be a very popular ship among Fishermen I think, but maybe not, these are just suggestions after all.

    Page 6
    Tide lines.

Tide lines are fishing line tied to a pole you could stick in the ground at beaches, the line floats in and out with the tide, you could leave these at an island and come back to check your catches, while only able to catch 2 fish at a time, and taking awhile to do it, it would still be helpful to Fishermen who could hop from island to island while sailing, planting these in the shoreline, coming back to harvest them later on their way to an outpost.

    Page 7
Recipes and cooking, selling actual food.

Recipes would be groundbreaking to the fishing industry in game, making you able to combine foods like Red Crab, Plentifin, and Kraken, in order to make, a platter of Crab Fillet! And then sell your food to the taverns across the sea.
You could also combine fruits with fish, and make a Wildsplash Salad! You could store these in special cargo boxes, and have a limited amount of time to get them to the tavern before the food expires and goes bad.

    Page 8
    Hunters clothing.

This will probably be the shortest page in this post but here you are! Hunters clothing could add clothes like a belt where you have butcher knives hanging from it, and a fishing rod on the back of the belt. A coat with net and bobers on it, hooks and seaweed, hanging here and there, with barnacles and other ocean debri on your coat, ripped at the bottom, and at the sleeves. These are just concepts of what could be done if Rare did this.

    Page 9
    Boats&Guns.

For the update they could add larger rowboat with smaller drag lines, and nets on the back of it, with a larger storage chest. They could make the Rowboats have a top over them made from cloth and twigs. Guns could be like a flintlock that shoots out a small harpoon with a trot line on it to catch multiple splashtails at once but it would take at least 5 minutes before you could catch anything to balance it out. And a musket that shoots small shells full of lead balls, an early version of a shotgun.

    Page 10
    A Hunters Tall Tale!

This Tall Tale could follow Merricks story, how he got to the Sea of Thieves, and how he helped defeat Flameheart, how he learned to fish so well, and how he lost his legs to the mystical Hungering One. It could introduce you to Merricks original crew, and tell you about him when he was younger. It could follow his family and how they've been rallying together to grow the Hunters Call, and how they got to the Sea of Thieves, it could tell the tales of how that Megalodons came to be, and how the Old Mother died. I know that most of this is explained in books and comics. But these things as a Tall Tale would be one of the greatest Tall Tales ever made to me personally.

Thanks for reading this took me like 5 hours to wright so I hope you enjoy, and understand, these are very far fetched ideas, some will definitely if not all ever make it to the game, but this is just a list of ideas I think would be beneficial for the Hunters Call, and what would make a popular update. So tell me what you think!

  • If you have any thoughts on a specific subject please put the title of the subject above your comment first so I know what your talking about.

  • Sea of Hunters, a game mode where you hunt as much as you can

Tall Tale or a Long Voyage. Not a mode.

    we need a musket.

Yes...because the EOR and Blunder are already being exploited and DG, why not add another high damaging gun.

it would shoot 3 shots, until which you would have to reload.

    Yeah...

feature to where, whatever two weapons you have equipped, will be visible on your pirates body.

Always Welcome but with how cosmetics look, on pirare bodies it look...weird.

Fishing nets would be a deployable net

Purpose, catching hoard of fish, quicker and such. Thus removing fishing poles?

Recipes would be groundbreaking to the fishing industry in game

When did we go from Pirates, to Chief simulator?

  • @burnbacon as I said at the end far fetched for suggestion only, and made specifically for Hunters Call, not actual decisions, or thought up to make the game run better, or have better piratey gameplay.

  • And yes.... it is a game mode, I may not have said but you would be competing with other players. And plus there is no other Tall Tale in game that works like what I described so what exactly do you mean?

  • No way somebody else posted about Muskets while I was typing out my idea compilation!! XD

  • @sirpebble323 I guess Muskets are more popular of an idea than I thought!

  • @foxfile3017 said in Sea of Hunters, Butchers, Generals, Trackers, Pirates, Castaways, Rowboaters, Hoarders, Legends, Whalers, Fishermen.:

Get rid of private server, unnecessarily long time to even start, and competitive gameplay, and you have a really nice long voyage similar to hoarder vaults and lost shipwrecks

Basically nerfed eye of reach. Eye of reach is actually based off of musket, just with a scope for better aim.

I’m all for this! Do it, please rare this is cool.

This is cool, I feel this would fit with the upcoming hunting voyages, but could also work like fishing in the game that you do at anytime.

Combining 4&5 I don’t think a rig would fit in the game very well, and fishing net is just better fishing rod that would make rod useless. Compromise idea, fishing nets can be found throughout the seas or bought from hunters call(exactly like how hunting spears work but you can only buy one and for much more expensive price.) fishing nets would be a 1 time use and would catch 3-7 fish but take about 5-7 minutes to finish after casting. Essentially this means that the net is a 1 time use to get a lot of fish. The fact that it’s one time use means it can’t be exploited but it is a nice tool to help with fish commendations. As for the rig, I think a rowboat with an attachment specifically for fishing net is fine. When you find said rowboat it comes with 3 nets so you can use it a couple times. the rowboat could decrease times so fishermen want to keep it around in case they find another net.

Only really useful if you’re trying to catch islehoppers. But not a terrible idea. I just don’t think it would be utilized very much.

Don’t love the idea just because the gameplay is more akin to a cooking simulator than sea of thieves.

I’ve already addressed all of these, different rowboat. No musket.

I mean we had the adventures which were basically hunters call tall tales with how much they followed Merrick. But I’m not against it if they actually add new insight to his story and lore.

Thanks for reading this took me like 5 hours to wright so I hope you enjoy, and understand, these are very far fetched ideas, some will definitely if not all ever make it to the game, but this is just a list of ideas I think would be beneficial for the Hunters Call, and what would make a popular update. 'Fishbeard' Fox.

Overall I think it’s too complicated and doesn’t need everything you said. However there were lots of good ideas! 7/10

  • @strikeboy01 thanks for the feedback! I agree with a lot of things you said, since this post was so long, I didn't explain some things very well such as how fishing nets would fully work, which would be a lot like how you said they would work. A Fish Rig wouldn't be a very good ship for the game yes, but for Hunters Call, it would be very affective.

As for muskets? Well, muskets would probably have to be balanced out a LOT before you could add them, but like I said, the post was long and I forgot some things, so the musket would probably deal slightly less damage than an Eye of Reach, but more than a Flintlock to balance it, it would be a lot like an Eye of Reach but still handle different and shoot straighter for close distance. So yes, in game as the way I've described then right now, they would be exploited and awful, so you would have to fix and balance it a LOT before adding them.

Tide lines would be more like traps in game right now, more of a novelty, helpful item, instead of being very affective.

Recipes would be very odd in this game, but it would be a nice addition to the stoves, probably would be very weird and not used very often, but it would just add more to the detail of the game than anything.

Yes they did do adventures that explained this, but new players as well as old ones, didn't do these, or just didn't have the time to.
So adding a Tall Tale in game for it would be more affective in my eyes, maybe not though.

I forgot to put "As for Tall Tales" on the last paragraph sorry.

  • If you enjoyed this tell me if I should write a smaller post based off of your favorite topic in this, and I'll try to explain it more fully.

  • @burnbacon

You seem to be overthinking this just a bit…

  • @foxfile3017 There is A LOT here. My biggest worry with that is hunters call being too fleshed out making the rest of the game feel obsolete. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. However I do like a lot of what you said and I do think it would enhance the game. Just maybe toned down a little.

I fully agree. It was a lot, but that's why I wanted feedback! So people could help shape the ideas, and make them better.
