Sea of Thieves Celebrates Five Million Players

In all the excitement of yesterday's release of Cursed Sails, you may have missed that we reached the awesome milestone of having welcomed more than five million players to the Sea of Thieves since launch. Seeing this number is both inspiring and humbling. On behalf of us all at Rare, I'd like to thank everyone who's been a part of this amazing adventure.

As a uniquely social game, interacting with other players – either on the same ship or on rival crews – plays a critical role in the overall experience. Because of this, every single player who's played has brought something unique and special to the game: themselves. It genuinely wouldn't be the same without you.

What's most precious to us has been the way in which you've come together to form such a vibrant, welcoming and imaginative community. Seeing our creative players embrace the possibilities that Sea of Thieves presents is an ongoing inspiration to everyone at Rare, from the invention of a new sport to an in-game quiz show, the formation of a police force  to some memorable shoreline graffiti.

Once again, thanks for all the support and we hope you enjoy Cursed Sails. We'll see you in the tavern.
