No it doesn't. It's literally their game. They can do what they want with it. I really don't think they care if that doesn't fit with your world view.

Ummm... I'm sorry to disappoint... But RARE does need to inform us if the game is going to take a Political /Religious /Moral stand point on subjects that are REAL WORLD issues and not Fantasy /Pirate based... This is NOT what I deem FUN... I paid for and supported a FUN game for EVERYONE to get away from world problems... Having paid for a pirate game I need to be informed if this is going into a controversial direction therefore NOT FUN... So that I can make a decision whether to continue or move on with this product...

Oh, poor baby. Rare gave us rainbow flags and ruined your game! Such a travesty! So what will you play now that Sea of Thieves has been ruined? Maybe there’s a game that isn’t so darned inclusive that would suit you better...

Exactly my point ... I purchased this game for family and friends (Yes that means multiple copies) with the understanding that we would be playing a Fantasy /Pirate game ... No REAL WORLD issues... Politics /Religion and Moral beliefs were not shown in any trailers ... Or else I would not have purchased the games for myself and friends ... And YES it may appear that this game is NOT for us... Which is sad... It has the potential to be a great Pirate game... If it would just leave the REAL WORLD in the REAL WORLD...

Here's an idea...

1. Don't let a rainbow flag seriously hurt you. So, so, so, so, so many people "say" they will stop using a product or eating a food because they support LGBT. Not only does it make you look like a bigot, but stand your ground then and starve. You'd be surprised how many companies/businesses support this, very surprised indeed.
2. Don't hoist the flag. Oh my god, what a concept.
3. I played SoT today, and flying this flag didn't alter any of my gameplay whatsoever. Seeing others with it didn't alter my gameplay either.

@braxkedren yeah man, I knew where you were coming from. You just picked a really really bad time to ask an awkward question.

People have been at each others throats and you were trying to start a civil discussion on the very topic that they were arguing about.

Of course Rare will want to celebrate major events like xmas etc. They want people to feel included. As has been stated the Pride flag has always been about equality and unity. It's not about one particular group, it's about all people celebrating and being proud of the fact that no matter how different we each might be as individuals there is always going to be more that we have in common with each other than we have that separates us. That's the message of that flag, it's a good message and a message that ANY human being should feel proud to support.

The people who are against its inclusion are mostly focussed on a perception that the people represented by that flag are not like them so therefore the flag excludes them, but they've missed the point, the people that flag represents are just people, they bleed the same blood, cry the same tears and breathe the same air as everyone else.

This is disappointing to see. The game is meant to be fictional and comical, but now a political agenda has been forced upon it. If there's a gay pride flag, I want a straight pride flag.

@genuine-heather I'd love to have a discussion and perhaps learn more of your perspectives and potential facts. My default state doesn't agree in completion, nothing in my experiences or education (aside from biased or politic friendly discussion) have taught me this as truth.

But that's just me... and yes... it's perhaps a failing, won't say it isn't!

But as I said I'd love to have a discussion on this topic... this open forum isn't the place for it. I am not trying to upset you or quarrel, I mean it.. find me through alternative outlets if you like I won't get mad.. but it's not wise to discuss such things here.

No worries at all, I replied because you seemed to be asking for insight. I think sometimes it is a choice for some, but in my experience that’s the exception. If you knew some of the people I know you’d agree. It’s definitely not a choice for them. Some people think being gay is a perversion, but if you’re truly gay, tryin to be straight would be the real perversion. You may think it doesn’t matter whether it’s a choice or not, but it absolutely does. Claiming it’s a “choice” is one of the ways society oppresses people, by dehumanizing them and making them out to be deviants, or even criminals. We must be really clear on this. Most people do not “choose” their sexuality or gender. They are what they are, and to live otherwise would be a tragedy.

It's a flag. It's a flag you will rarely ever see because not everyone will fly it and also you barely notice the flag. Really not that big of a deal.

I'm willing to bet this will all be forgotten in a week or two. I do love the "ugh the game is so political now" argument. No mention of politics in the item description and one statement in one patch notes. In a month from now it will literally just be a flag with no context.

At the end of the day, people are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Do people want to be offended and victimized that much that any mention of anything ever has to get backlash? No matter how small or insignificant. It blows my mind.

But, as I said. In a few weeks no one will be talking about this because I don't think people really care that much. They just want to find something to whine about.

Look, more name calling. All she has done is name calling. I think its time the mods treat her equally and ban her as they have banned people for far less. And this is not the first time she has name called. Maybe its time for a taste of that equality she wants so bad.
